As you all know, Tony Allen has been playing great ball the last 6-7 games, and he has filled in very nicely with the minutes he got when Wally was out. Last night, in Wally's return, TA remained the starting SG and Wally came off the bench. TA had one of his best games this season and Wally seemed to fit in very well with Gerald on the wing and Delonte running the point. I think we should keep starting TA and we should keep Wally as the 6th man for a while, just to see what happens. Maybe it will work out and maybe we won't give up so many points with the second unit now? At the end of games, sure, play Wally and Pierce. But to start games, I wouldn't mind having TA be the defensive stopper while Pierce and Big Al carry the offensive load, with Gomes getting cleanup points and Bassy penetrating and setting guys up. Then, off the bench, we'd have a very nice offesive trio in Delonte, Wally, and Gerald with Scal and Powe doing the dirty work. I think at the very least, we should definitely start TA tomorrow night vs. Denver. Wally can't handle J.R. Smith and his freak athleticism, and Wally is an average defender at best. TA is a pretty good defender and he's quite the athlete himself. Having Pierce guard Melo while TA guards Smith sounds pretty good to me. I think Smith would abuse Wally to tell you the truth.
I think we need to keep it the way it is for now. Down the road something may come up to invoke a switch but the team is playing well right now and 'if its not broke don't fix it.'

What team have you been watching? Take that 1986 tape out of the VCR and turn it to Fox Sports Net New England.

Why change the lineup if its winning us games?

Yeesh...</div>no we just felt he was getting too many minutes he didnt deserve earlier in the seasonhe was playing a massive amount of minutes while people like Gerald Green and Rajon Rondo weren't getting anyand he was playing like crapbut now he earned his minutes and hes back in last year's form
The way the celtics are playing right now is great, but they beat 3 bad teams in a row. If I can see them go up against a team like the Lakers or better, and come out victorious, I will be convinced that this starting line up will be most effective. I still think Wally should start, but the C's have been playing pretty good ball with the current lineup. TA gives u a solid perimeter defender and his scoring has been better latley. Even though his jumpshot is terrible.

We are 8-13, we are not winning games. And if you are referring to the last 3 games, then you support MY point, not yours. We have won 3 games in a row... Wally wasn't even active for the first 2, and he came off the bench last night. We lost 5 in a row before hand. So, you support my argument (of starting TA, keeping Wally as a 6th man) in saying that. And like yanks said, we just won 3 in a row, but let's not go overboard. Look who we beat (a struggling New Jersey, a sorry New York franchise, and an Iversonless Philadelphia).
So we agreed through all that? Haha. I just said it came off as assholeish. I knew that was a joke. My point was if its not broke don't fix it. We've won 3 games with the current lineup, so why try to fix it by inserting someone else in it and taking what has been a key aspect of it out. I think you just took it differently than I mean it to mean.

Not only is he playiung under control on offense, he's playing EXCELLENT defense. Not only the past 3 games, but the past week or two. He played great defense on mike miller, too.I wouldn't mind the idea. Wally would definitely bring some stability in the bench, and that would help us close out some games, as we keep the starters in for too long, wearing them out in the fourth.
I've always been huge on having a good-great player coming off the bench. BUT! I dont think tony will be consistant in the long run. If we could hold on to wally and pick up AI, it would be heaven. Wally off the bench and when he's in at the end of games he can do what he does best and catch and shoot. BUT if that doesn't happen I would rather have him start, or play a 2 small guard combo with any pair of rondo bassy and west.

But quite frankly, I don't care if he only scores 6 more points for the rest of the season, if he can just keep up his defense, hustle, and not trying to be Kobe Bryant with the ball, then I say keep him in there. I just want TA's defense.
But I think TA's defense off the bench is more valuable than wally's scoring and consistancy off the bench. I say start wally at first hint of faltering tony allen.
TA proved tonight he can thrive in a starting spot once again. I really like having him starting, guarding the other team's best guard. Also, Wally's bench scoring should really help us stay in the game rather than losing a lead when the bench goes in.

No question he brought the O but melo dropped 42 a season high and he was mostly tony's responsibilty. He did come up with a couple big steals though which I love, and his pressure was pretty good, but melo seemed to be out muscling him down low for position. I saw melo get so many easy 1 footers its ridiculous. But still a great night from tony. I say when we play against a player like a melo, lebron who are big and physical keep tony ont he bench and with smaller players keep tony in the starting rotation. On a side note, what happened to gomes? I saw him on the sideline in a suit. Hes not hurt to the best of my knowledge, did he get the night off? And why in gods name was scal starting? God almighty please dont let that happen whenever possible

Melo is just 4 inches taller and stronger, and got shots up with Tony's hand in his face. Nothing anyone can do about that. About Gomes, he is injured. He has a strained right calf, and he most likely won't play tonight @ Charlotte either (Doc said that).

To be honest I didnt even know he scored that much till I got home and got on the boards.
