who is wearing arods uni 2nite? and tex has another hit, IF, the the shift was not on... note to girardi pass along to tex, 'maybe go the other way
Teixeira is all about Teixeira. He's already said several times that he has no intentions of changing his approach.
Official scorer being very generous in giving Drew a double on a ball that went in & out of the right fielders glove.
OMG. Chris Young just hit a Grand Salami in 7th inning. They just scored 7 runs in the 7th. BTW, Young took Beltran's place because Bel is sick. He's made the best of the situation. These Rays do not look good. Yankees may be on their way yo win their first series this year.
Promised the squeeze I'd take her dancing, thought today would be a day game. That was my problem I thought. At any rate I had to keep my promise, game was on TV and mostly Rays Fans in the bar too many distractions. Did watch the 9th inning, was not impressed by Pinder at all, dude struggled for that last out. Looked like Tank had his shit wired today.
...nice win for the Yanx...I realize it was the Rays but they really had no clue vs Tanaka...and without a solid Tanaka going deep into games and on less than 90 pitches, the Yanx really have no chance this year. ...the Yanx are also gonna have to make some strides in the bottom part of the batting order...otherwise it makes it very hard to sustain any sort of extended rally.
I always get a huge chuckle off seeing the Rays get their butts kicked especially if its the Yankees.
They got a lot of contributions, Tanaka as I mentioned was vintage, McCann hopefully is busting out, and Young is slowly earning a chance at more playing time. And on that note if Beltran doesn't start contributing Girardi may need to make the tough decision & flip flop Young & Beltran.
Young has done nothing but good things since the Yanks picked him up. I think he's found a home - maybe a classic case of a guy making the most of his last best chance. Good speed, competent OFer. Good man to have, can play all three OF positions with some pop in his bat. Teams need guys like that. Of course some of his warts can be exposed if he played everyday but as a backup, he's done fine and I see no reason for him not to continue.
...I think Beltran will improve, but how much he may improve is the question. It's not like he's been completely over-matched at the plate and he's been a little unlucky at times and has hit quite a few hard hit balls.
Yup, and I'd like to believe, unless he's washed up and I don't yet think so, he'll eventually do some damage. Be a good idea to give him plenty of days off in RF and DH him on occasion while giving Arod the day off. Could be a pretty fair DH mix with Jones also in the rotation.
Tanaka has sort of an underrated curve ball, has the split, and can (must) command his 91-92 fastball. He'll be fine as the elbow holds up. Kid knows how to pitch. He'll run into trouble when he can't locate his fastball......but he has two other pitches to utilize.
