First key game for rangers they need if they have hopes of having this be a short 5 game series. Need to shoot and get a lot of pucks on fleury for him to revert back to Fleury form. AV needs to get sheppard in for glass so we have another offensive threat and strengthen the 4th line. I hope he doesn't sit hayes and lets the kid play through this hiccup. It would be nice on the power play while Kreids is parked in front of the goalie as he's been the first 2 games if the friggin points and wings would shoot the puck on f'ing goal. Kreids is getting dizzy going back and forth following the puck being passed around and around and around. Despite nash's goal being useless with 5 seconds left maybe more importantly it gets him going for the rest of the series. There is no way AV can have boyle with more ice time than Staal and Yandle 23 to 16 over Yandle CAN HE? Looking forward to a big ranger night tonight as they are the best road team in hockey. Can't believe AV won't figure out how to beat the trap by the pens. Crosby can't play any better and they won by a goal. Feel a big rebound for us tonight.
Paging St Louis.....He is a great playoff guy. I know he is old but I have a feeling he scores a big goal tonight and that line gets rolling. He has played 91 playoff games and understands the importance of this game
MSL and Boyle I am a little concerned with, especially MSL. He seems shot out there. He doesn't win any puck battles. Not seeing much positive from his game these days. Let's hope those old legs have 25 more games in them though....
the playing field has been leveled, rangers wake up tonite having realized they are playing a championship team need to hit fleury early and often with lots of shots, the ice issue? will the rangers speed be the difference in 2nites game, don't think pitt will take as many penalties... the vets pick it up in tonites game, all out assault by team, rangers win
I agree w Pasta - The vets carry them tonight. They also need to screen MAF and start using their size (Nash, Kreider, Hayes)
As far as MSL, after this season I just don't see why we bring him back. Yes, we'd have to replace his goals, but when the season wears on and now in the playoffs his age is showing. I still can't believe how he personally killed off ten to fifteen seconds of the PP after we scored by taking the puck below the goal line in the corner, thereby allowing the Pens to not have to worry about a shot and knowing that his only pass was to the point, which is where it went and was immediately pressured and turned over. Our PP is key to this game, even if we get only 1 or 2. We HAVE to start scoring on it.
Big key...must get out of the first 7 minutes or so on a level playing field. We do that and we'll be okay. Game 3 the home team always comes out crazy. The Isles did it, the Sens did it, the Flames did it. The road team when the series shifts has to overcome that early wave of emotion. Get through that and you have a great shot.
rangers passing, which has been their forte all year long, with patience, not seeing it.. they need to relax
Confused. Does that mean you want us to take dumb penalties because we cannot score on the PP? Not sure how that would help us.
The passing is slow and deliberate... No pp face off wins and no skill to enter the zone.... Sound familiar
Good start. PP awful again though. One thing on Hayes, I think he is learning playoff hockey still, and that last play was an example. He had a GREAT chance to shoot, but didn't and took it behind the net. In the playoffs you don't do that. Just rip it big man.
I simply couldn't disagree with you more. One way to stop it...score on the PP. The answer is not to take dumb stick fouls in return.
Its the fustrated Al talking. But at the same time this was regular season... Hands would be smacked around Mario style
