We're gonna win tonight. Then we'll win in Memphis. Then we'll come back here on Friday, win that one. Then we'll win on Sunday and everyone will talk about what a great series it was. Check out 2:05 after Suns lost first two games at home in best of 5 first round.
I remember that clearly. The Suns had traded for Barkley in the offseason and were hot favorites for the title, even with Jordan still in his prime. Meanwhile the Lakers starred Sedale Threatt and Vlade Divac. Hardly a comparable situation. Unless Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol join Conley on the injured list.
And James Worthy and Byron Scott. Worthy was the star of those first two games and Byron Scott had a shot win the series in Game 5 but missed of course.
Odds are against it, but there is an opening. If Blazers can come out with something very different and take this game, then it opens the door. The super tough game would be the next one in Memphis. After that I could see Memphis getting a bit tight for the final game in Portland and then game 7. However, great defensive teams don't seem to suffer from "tightness" like offensive teams do. I'm hoping for a different strategy in this game, something really off the wall that changes the series. Not sure what that would be. Start Meyers and push the ball on every singe possession?
Honestly it's "one game at a time" philosophy. If they can win in Memphis (without Conely) and Portland (probably when Conely comes back), then the momentum serious swings. Confidence will be back by game 7. I will say if we somehow make it out of round 1, then I have full confidence we smash Golden State
I would have to disagree, you asking them to win 4 straight games and that's a tall order for any team. I think they win tonight and it ends in 5.
great post. the thing that stands out is barkley's body language after the 2 loses. reminds me of our current body language. all it takes is for our guys to believe. we can fucking do this. just believe. never give up. play our collective asses off and leave nothing off the table. lay your lives on the line and play harder than you've ever played. you have to want it.
dont let the refs beat you either. they call a ticky tack foul? go down next possession and give them a reason to blow that fucking whistle. foul hard and dunk harder. you stop a bully by punching him in the mouth. fucking fight for this shit. i believe.
It's a pretty simple formula, certainly nothing complicated or unattainable. YOU WIN ONE GAME. THEN, YOU WIN ONE GAME. THEN, YOU WIN ONE GAME. THEN, YOU WIN ONE GAME. ROUND 2, REPEAT.
I wish it were the case. Memphis is just a damn good team. No shame in losing to them. If I wasn't working, I'd go to game 4 to give them a hearty sendoff or cheer a win
I'd be there if I wasn't signing with my new agent today. And I have an audition. So I can't go to Game 5. But I will TOTALLY go to Game 6 & 7 if they happen.
