That was my intent Vic & I thought I made that clear when I mentioned the boxers names but instead its turned into what appears to be a comedy routine. I don't know if its the young fella Steve or me but one of us is losing it.
And started the death spiral of Iron Mike. Going to college in the NY capital district, Tyson boxing parties were awesome!
I thought boxing was irrelevant & no one cared about it.... Boxers names I know; Ali, Mike Tyson, George Foreman, & Evander Holyfield... Don't really know any other names as I don't find it entertaining....
There were boxers back in the day that you just had to watch. Ali (Clay) was one of them. The man was just as entertaining as hell in the ring & the best I ever saw. Oh...he was also an asshole.
To me, it's just as boring as tennis and golf... I've got no interest in watching to people beat the crap out of each other... same goes for MMA... at least WWE has some soap opera-type drama adding entertainment value, but even that doesn't intrigue me anymore... I'd also add that IMO, basketball isn't much higher than these...
I'll admit Steve I use to be a huge basketball fan, not so much anymore, but I still get a kick out of the wrestling even though some of the story lines get really dumb sometimes.
The 1970s had quite a few very good heavyweights. One of the better more entertaining heavyweight fights I can remember was between Earnie Shavers and Ron Lyle. Some of the lower "ranked" Heavys of the '70s would beat the crap out most of these current "highly" ranked heavyweights....IMHO Jerry Quarry was good heavyweight lost in the fog of that great heavyweight era.
