Right now he's averaging 19/11 and shooting 52% 49% and 91%...Let's say he keeps going and averages 19/11 50% 45% and 90%. And the Suns win a ton of games again and dominate. Do you give Nash the MVP again? I think if he does all of the above I see no reason why the media won't vote for him this year...How can't they? I mean statisticly so far he's having his best season and the team is going to win a lot. The Lakers are playing better and LeBron is being LeBron like last year...Other than Kobe nobody else seems to be a huge threat. Could you imagine if Nash wins 3 in a row? Holy jesus. What do you guys think.

Abso-f*cking-lutely possible, no doubt. I'd LOVE to see Nash win it for a 3rd straight year, his averages are the best of his career, including his last two MVP seasons! If he doesn't win it, then it should go to Kobe.

God, I hope not. I told 'Pacer fan forever' that I would give him my admin spot if Steve Nash won another MVP. :cry2:

No. This is no way a knock on Nash or the Suns, but they're not giving it to a player three years in a row. It's just not happening in this day in age. He'd have to be breaking records to do it. The Suns would have to win 60+ games with him averaging 20+ and 12+ with no other player even remotely close to him in terms of production value to their team. That's the only scenario I can see it happening in.

No. Steve Nash has already won 2 straight. Sure, he makes his teammates better, but there are a handful of guys who are better players. I think they give it to someone else this year, like Kobe, Dirk, or Lebron.

I hope not too. Pacersfan as mod?Seriously though, he could realistically get it. I would hate to see it, but I don't see what's stopping them. He's leading his team to 13 straight wins, dominating offensively... unless he hits a major slump or gets injured. DAMNIT!KOBE DESERVES A FATHER MUCKING MVP!!!!!!!

He has an even better chance than he did last year and the year before. I have no idea where is burst of greatness came from for the past 3 years. If all is healthy and together in Phoenix, he will get it IMO.

Yeah he would deserve to be a third time MVP if he stays that way. It's a long season though.

I don't care what he's doing. There's no way in hell that he deserves three MVP's. Period. That's just ridiculous. Two was ridiculous for that matter.

He definitely deserved the first one, there's little doubt about it and I think he really does deserve this one. He has just been amazing this year, better than the last two years. But like I said before, I think there were 3 more deserving candidates than him last year so if he doesn't win it this year it'll just make up for him winning it last year. I think by the end of the season he will deserve 2 MVP's in his career if he continues this and that is what he'll have.

Re: If Steve Nash continues what he's doing now...

Just to add on to that, I have loved what he's done thus far. The team looks just as lost without him as they did 2 years ago since Marcus Banks has sucked so Nash has been even more valuable for us than last year. He is the reason Amare is starting to gain his confidence back and is putting up very good numbers. And so many times this year when teams were building a lead against us Nash has come and made a big 3 and carried us at the very end. He is also not very bad at D anymore. He tries to double team sometimes because we need to so that sometimes causes trouble, but he has been working on his D and is not that bad anymore and he got a nice steal the last game. [IMG] How many guards in the league shoot 5 3-pointers a game and their FG% is over 52%? He just scores so efficiently. If he wanted to he could score 30 a game like the other candidates people want to win MVP but he's one of the few unselfish stars left in the league so he gives up that to make his teammates better. He's been crazy good this year and some people don't take notice because he's white, short, slow-ish and not the kind of scorers that everyone loves and that win MVP year after year.

I didn't read the thread, so excuse me if I say something that has already been addressed. However, if Steve Nash continues putting up these numbers I don't see how you can't give him the MVP award. For people to say Nash does not deserve three straight MVP awards just because his name shouldn't be among those legendary players who have won three straight MVP awards is flat out ridiculous. To take the award away from him because of historical perspective is doing a disservice to the league and basically undermining the meaning of the MVP award.

However, he isn't. He just isn't. I think giving him 3 straight MVPs would give the impression that he is a god among men in this era. It's not that he's a bad player, or not elite even, but he's not that great. I think you know that. And 10 to 20 years from now, people will look back and say, Nash won 3 straight MVPs over Kobe, Dirk, Wade, LeBron, Melo, et al.?

Suns are on pace for 60 wins and Nash is playing better then he ever has before on both sides of the ball. If this keeps up he would deserve it as much as anyone else if not more.off topic: Has anyone ever put up a shooting line of 50/50/90 before :g:

You can't sit here and say he doesn't deserve to win the MVP award this year because there is no way he is a better/more dominant player when compared to those guys, or that he was a god among players in his era, or that he doesn't belong with the elite players in NBA history who have won three straight MVP awards. The purpose of the season MVP award is to reward the Most Valuable Player that season... now, it's a different thing to say, "Alright, LeBron or Kobe deserve this award this season because they were more valuable to their teams than Nash was, etc." and that to me is understandable (and of course arguable).

Re: If Steve Nash continues what he's doing now...

If the media doesn't give him the MVP this season it would be wrong. I'm not going to go into the whole MVP/Nash debate, I've done that and it's over until he maybe wins his third. But if the voters don't pick him assuming he keeps up these numbers/wins it's hypocritical and wrong. 'Well he deserved his first 2 but 3, eh, thats too many, let's give it to someone else because Nash has had his turn'...Assuming Kobe just doesn't go crazy and the Lakers go crazy in the 2nd half...I think Nash has this one in the bag.
