Not a bad idea. Then he could bring in his replacement, a young guy and get him ready. Like Luke Walton.
No shit? I always thought he was just a really good management mind with devilishly handsome looks (in the straightest way possible).
No, he has lots of head coaching experience. Pops didn't have any head coaching experience before taking over for Bob Hill. His only coaching experience came as an assistant under Don Nelson.
Still, I rather have Olshey be the man being the scenes. He is our John Schneider, we need a Pete Carroll.
What if he can be stellar being both? It is possible You mentioned Pete, one thing the two have in common is energy. They both have lots of it.
We need someone who isn't going to be intimidated in a small market and won't put too much on his starters. Greg Popovich is still taken, but he made things work in San Antonio, so he could make things work here. I'd think of recent players who are ready to coach. A Derek Fisher, maybe. If we're rebuilding, we can use someone who is still young enough to lead NBA players
That's what I read. Jackson was going to put him to work in NY but Kerr wanted him so he is with GS. It was Jackson doing payback to Kerr, so it said. Hell, I'll believe it, bringing him in as an assistant wouldn't hurt a thing. I dug this up after watching a warriors game and noticing the interaction of Walton with Kerr and the team. A noticeable active guy.
Stotts has been great. Every season he makes revolutionary improvements to the team. Last year we were one of the worst defensive teams in the league. This season with Wes we were in the top5. Injuries and roster tweaks are what needs to be fixed. Thank gosh Neil is in charge of these decisions and its not a fan vote.
If CHI is stupid enough to let Thibs go, Terry should be shown the door. His one adjustment (going small or using Meyers to pull Gasol outside) came only after 3 games of trying the same thing over and over again. He looked overmatched at times this season when it wasn't really the case last year. Stotts is okay, but Thibs is among the tops in the league -- he can hide Dame on D or actually teach him to play better. We need that.
I don't think Stotts needs to go, even though I was frustrated with this year's playoff. The only coach I care to have would be one that set plays to keep Aldridge down low. I believe Aldridge is at his best when he's down low.
Honestly, roll the dice on an unknown if you can't get someone like Thibs. Sticking with Stotts isn't going to do us any good. He's the offensive version of Nate McMillan - people think he's good because that's what they've been told. But if you actually watch the offense you can very easily see that (a) there isn't much to it, and (b) it's built around a flawed premise (that LMA can be the centerpiece to a championship offense). Beyond that, this series was reminiscent to the POR/PHX series where Nate McMillan didn't make a single adjustment. A coach who can't make adjustments isn't much of a coach at all.
I'm ready to move on from Stotts. His rotations are mind-boggling. He doesn't make adjustments very quickly. He allows the team too much free reign (We takes the worst shots in the league, hands down) on offense. And I just don't think he can get the most out of his players, whether that's a fair assessment or not, I felt like the team was in a sleep-walk for the majority of the season and never really got their groove back after that 30-8 start. With that said, I still think he's a Top 12 coach in the league and wouldn't move him just to move him. I would like to wait and see who's available on the market before making a decision, but I do not see Stotts leading this team to a championship.
