Lamarcus also said he isn't sure if hes going to visit anyone else, and won't drag out the process will make his decision quickly.
That kind of sounds like someone who is going to resign. I like that he isn't going to drag it out. It lets the Blazers plan ahead if he decides to bolt.
Reading about it, the contract is agreed up based on percentage of the cap the year the extension kicks in. A team can designate on extension for a 5 year extension, but not have 2 players on designation at one time. So Dame could get a max extension for 5 years based on next summers balloon of salary cap. And since that contract would take him past 7 years with the team he would qualify for 30% of next summers cap.
Another Quote by Lamarcus "I've had a great nine years here that's always going have more weight than anything else."
That's what LaMarcus was supposed to say. But hasn't. He could have said that exact thing, then followed it up with the reality that it depends on the "process" of a new contract goes.
He can't say: "I'll be back next season no matter what." There is a protocol and an expectation that he say he loves it here an hopes he will be back. Then management offers him the max. Maybe he listens to other offers. Then he signs with Portland. It's all part of the game.
Yep he'll get a couple free meals and some shmoozing then he'll be like "I got 30mill reasons and Big D ain't one*" *You Knows omitted for readability.
For the guys that are giving Dame some grief about his pride for playing in every game, we do make a big deal about guys never missing time. Andre Miller. Wesley Matthews. etc. Hell, we call Wes the fucking Iron Man. So I think there's some very obvious reasons to want to play in every game and being proud of that achievement.
Just watched the Aldridge interview. Sounds like a guy that's staying put to me and all the speculation was made up crap from quick. He specifically said nothing's changed from his thinking of last summer but he wants to do his due diligence. He sounded very annoyed with the continuous speculation and questions.
Fuck it. Let's get the band back together. Even Batum. You can't have the Beatles without Ringo Starr.
Olshey can sell ice cubes to an eskimo. I think he can convince LaMarcus things are going good and getting better.
Yeah I just read the full transcript,,, Doesn not sound to me like a guy looking to leave. In fact said he's just going to do his due diligence. Also made comments about how much he likes what has Olshey has done for the players.
