Sigh.... You guys fail at reading. "We wont win a championship shooting 3's" <snip> is pretty much what I wrote. I am not talking about other teams. I am not talking about a 50 win season. I am not talking about a division title The point of my comment was to indicate that we need to change the offense (from the focal point of 3s) if we are going to succeed.
We =/= Clippers 10-18 9-29 6-23 5-18 1-14 4-18 14-27 I'd say Game 1 and Game 7 were abnormalities that went in their favor. Again, living by the 3-ball is scary and streaky. I do not think we (the blazers) will win a championship depending on it. I also do not think the Clippers will either.
Wes was sorely missed in the 4th qtr from deep. The Spurs shot poorly from everywhere so streaky shooting last night from the champs. Without Barnes, Paul and Reddick getting hot at the end game, they probably lose game 7. Fact is streaky shooting from anywhere is a risk anytime. The 3 pt shot is a weapon that's here to stay
As long as our offense isn't based around it I think we'd do better than what we've done so far. A balanced attack on offense has shown to be more effective than just relying on the jump shots.
We have a stellar starting point guard. We need a stellar backup point guard. We also need Wes Matthews, or someone comparable at the SG.
Wow! Curry is sure creating some sweet assists for his shooters. Sucking the D in, and flipping it back to his shooter. Bang!! Three! Green was assisted on all of his threes.
And because of where you live you get more Warrior broadcasts than Blazer. I think Denny is looking for a mod for the Warrior forum.
I get all their games on CSBA but I probably only watch a dozen or so. Like to watch the Warrior broadcast when they play the Blazers though, even though I was not a fan of Jim Barnett from his Blazer days.
Difference between the Blazers and warriors? The Warriors actually make catch and shoots... If Dame's teammates hit 3s at the same level as Currys do he would average 8+ assists.
Really! I didn't check them all out but, in the playoff, Meyer was 10 of 13 from three and none assisted by Damian. CJ was 11 for 23 from Three, do you remember a sweet assist of CJ by Damian? I don't, but I guess it could have happen when I wasn't looking.
Now to be some what fair in my criticizing here. Let me point out that Lamarcus Aldridge only had nine assists in the recent playoff series, while shooting a dismal .330. Not a good percentage in any case but especially poor for a Power Forward. I feel that the piss poor performance of both the star players, was entirely do to piss poor preparation by the coaching staff and especially Stotts. Lamarcus drew the double team and often it appeared to be a triple team but nothing was put on by the team as an alternative to Lamarcus jacking one up under heavy pressure, no weak side cutters. You have to make the opposition pay for committing a double team. It is to be welcomed with a plan to make them pay. The same with Damian driving, way too often driving into a mass with no chance. Then when Meyers is in the game to suck a defender out of there, which he did, they actually barley used him. The offense was still left to an individual one at a time, CJ drive, Batum drive, Aldridge with his moves, Damian drive. One man attacks with perimeter observers. This offense will never compete against the top quarter of the league. But it appear this board likes it, only expecting better results from more of the same. I blame the coach for the poor performance of both Lamarcus and Damian more than I do the players. His simple offense is hardly designed to exploit their considerable talents against a quality defense. But here I am again, in the minority, perhaps even the one eyed observer in the valley of the blind.
Why not just go to nba.com and look these things up instead of just guessing? Lillard assisted 2 of Meyers three's, and 3 of CJ's.
Some of that is ball placement by Dame. He isn't very "exact" in hitting guys in their shooting motions. Normally they have to take a 1/2 step one way or another.
Nope, not the valley of the blind. WillG can see also, don't know about both eyes though. Perhaps Jayps or Strenuus can give us a link in NBA.com where Damian is a assisting Meyers. I watched the series closely, was even going to make a big deal out of an assist, Lillard to Meyers. I didn't get to do it.
