The prolific guitarist has released fifty albums in a career spanning over seven decades, often performing up to 300 times per year even into his 70s. King has as many as 15 children and 50 grandchildren. He also became a licensed private pilot in his spare time. King is a member of the Blues and Rock & Roll Hall of Fames and was awarded a Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2006. King is consistently ranked among the greatest Blues guitarists to ever live along with artists he influenced Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan, as well as the late Robert Johnson.
