After 3 game sweep of Boston, Yanks tied for 3rd best record in the league, just two games away from the BEST record.

Long season indeed....so lets appreciate and enjoy the team when, and while we can.

    GO YANKS !

A couple of things of note ... Only 3 regular players batting .300 or better... Only 4 batting .250 or better.... Ellsburry .351, Gardner .320, Young .313, & Murphy if consider him a regular at .263....

On the flip side, 4 regulars are batting .200 or lower, 5 at .202 or lower.... Drew .155, Jones .167, Beltran .197, Petit .200, & Teixeira .202

Only 1 better than .400 OBP (Ellsbury) with Gardner at .400, & 4 are below .270.....

    While its nice Teixeira has 9 HR & 20 RBI, he's only batting .202.... & A-Rod having 6 HR & 14 RBI, he's only batting .241....

The pitching stats indicate a great team, but 4 starters have an ERA over 3.70, 2 over 4.75.... Sabathia 5.40 in 31.2 IP, Warren 4.78 in 26.1 IP, Eovaldi 3.81 in 28.1 IP, & Pineda 3.73 in 31.1 IP. Heck, even Tanaka had 3.22 in 22.1.

Headley (6), Gregorius (4), & Drew (3) have combined for 13 errors.... So the current rate is a little less than every other game, 1 of these three will make an error

Despite all of these things, they're getting the most important stat... The W.... One just has to wonder which aspects will become more prevalent... 3 players & the pen cannot continue to carry the team long term...

Got to love that they're able to get these wins. Really, who expected a sweep? A sum of the parts for sure Hammer.

The BP is getting taxed but if there is anything we've learned over the years from Girardi, he knows how to balance the bullpen. Let's hope he can keep them fresh. We'll be seeing Lindgren sooner than expected this summer.

Great post Steve, with those numbers kinda makes you wonder how we're doing so well. Also gives you wonder "What If?" Teixeira, A-Rod, & Didi can get & stay above 250 & Beltran can start to light up.

I'll take a low BA from Tex if he can continue to come close to his current pace of HR/RBI/OPS.
Beltran will hit if he gets his ABs as the season moves along.

They need to AT LEAST maintain decent SP and the bullpen should be deep and good.

If this team stays as reasonable healthy as the rest of the division and avoids long term debilitating injuries they'll score (imo) considerably more runs as compared to last year's debacle and will continue to "WIN" over the course of the season.

Yeah, they'll probably have a couple of visits to the DL like most teams....but as long as they don't get overwhelmed with numerous DLs and avoid long term nagging injuries to a couple/few of their regulars, they'll WIN MORE than was expected or predicted by MOST.

    Stay healthy boys, stay healthy.

You take it for now but Tex is still Homer or bust. He's batting like .075 with RISP. Then there's Drew digging himself a hole on offense he's not going to climb out of.

Absolutely, I'm not settling for Dave Kingman. I don't care how many HRs Tex hits batting around the Mendoza line is ridiculous. I'll settle for 240. As far as Drew he's run out of excuses, he's had a full spring training & has been given every chance to perform during these first 25 games. No one thought that he'd be hitting worse than last seasons 162 but NEWSFLASH he's currently at 155. Time to cut ties & give one of the kids (Pirela) a chance. He CAN'T do any worse.

I have to believe Tex will improve on a .075 BA w/risp but in any case....yes, I think he can make a big difference staying on or close to this pace for HRs , RBI , .910 OPS.

And as I've said (and maybe some others) about Drew..... the Yanks (imo) will NOT continue to go with Drew if he continues this way in the next month or two.
They will move in someone else for 2b.

However, if he shows any sign of life and produces a few extra base hits and HRs....he stays at 2b....imo

I think maybe, the Yanks are biding their time with Drew as long as they're "winning" and until Pirela or maybe Refsnyder are "ready".

    But please...no more Ryan.
To be honest, I'd rather have Drew stay at 2b than Ryan.....well, perhaps if Drew continues to plunge towards a .100 BA without any power......lmao

You'd take a .202 BA??? Really????????? I'd rather see something better for sure... I don't think he's worth his weight if he can't hit better... IMO, an acceptable but low BA is about .260 or hell... even .250... Those are bad... A .202 BA is abysmal... dreadful.... horrific...

And the SP hasn't been decent.... their pen has been... look again at the numbers I shared... those 4 pitchers with ERAs higher than I'd like are all starters... only one starter had a good ERA... Chase Whitely is the only starter (1 start) to have a great ERA and again, 1 start on 5 innings...

Ryan hurt his hamstring again while running. Pirela looks like he's going to be first up.

I have to believe Tex will improve on a .075 BA w/risp but in any case, he can make a big difference if he can continue to stay close to his current pace for HR, RBI, OPS (.910).

Nothing wrong with him hitting a HR and knocking in runs every 2.7 games. lol
I know, chances are he can't maintain this pace and he's going to have to chip in with a few hits here and there.

Listen closely, Tex' current pace is 1 HR every 2.7 games with a lot of RBI and a .910 OPS.
If he can maintain that- I can live with a very low BA.

I do realize he can't maintain THAT pace all season.
We're going to need a few "hits" here and there....but if he can have a big year with HRs, RBI and OPS ➡(don't forget about "OBP and SLG%")......
.... those are also VERY important.

Good. I'm anxious for this kid Pirela to get on the field and let's see what we have.
I like to believe "we" have a pretty good hitter who is defensively competent.

Cheer up...there's still plenty of time for the Yanks to lose 73 more games.

The moment Arod hit a regular season HR to beat the Redsox at Fenway, I'm afraid you now OWN that hat. Wear it with pride.

Actually the moment he played his first 2015 reg season game.
"Arod is toast" ..... "he won't make it out of ST"

If never plays another game -You were as wrong as can be...
...and I got it right:"I still think Arod has enough left in the tank to help the Yanks" (prior to ST)
    HE ALREADY HAS!

Wear it with pride. It's all yours. Lmao!
