Mats Zuccarello will not be available at all for the Rangers in their second round series against the Caps and the chance of him returning for a potential Eastern Conference Final or Stanley Cup final are “in doubt.” (NY Post) It is suspected that Zuccarello suffered a concussion when hit with a shot from Ryan McDonagh in the Rangers game five win over the Penguins.
As much as I would like him back for this series, or the next one, I really just hope the guy is OK. Just get the feeling that this is pretty bad, hope I am wrong.
From the Brooks article: "It is unknown whether the 27-year-old Norwegian, who was hospitalized for at least one night over the weekend, suffered additional damage [besides a concussion]." Playoffs aside, I'm really praying for the guy. This does not look good.
Yeah, this is bigger than hockey it appears. Could be a Sauer situation or worse. Wouldn't count on seeing him again this season at least.
This is a pretty big blow to the team but guys have to step up. Lundqvist has to win the cup for them this year. More pressure on him but he is our best player
The Norwegian media is also reporting that Zuccarello could be done for the playoffs. (Nettavisen) You have to be concerned about this guy moving forward in general not just hockey wise.
Total speculation, but he could have taken that puck flush to the head and clearly it could have caused a fracture and/or blood on the brain. This could be some major sh*t. We may never see the guy again, and that would really suck. I love Zucc and what he does for this team, and more importantly you hope he is okay and can live a good life. Potentially opens up some cap space next season.

Several players said Tuesday they had spoken to the popular Norwegian winger recently and that he was in relatively good spirits, 'just waiting it out.'" Seems like the worst may be behind him.
