A one year deal at 10 mil or a two year deal with a player optioned second year for 18 mil. If I was Olshey that would be my only two options for wes. I think it's fair as he can prove he still has it (when he comes back around Christmas/new years) while making good money, if he wants more he can see the door. Loyalty doesn't exist in the sports world 99% of the time, especially on the players end.

Cabs won't have money to pay him and he's too competitive to go to NY for an extra couple million

Wes earned a completely fair paycheck before his injury. He owes the Blazers nothing. Blazers owe him nothing.

Before the injury he was an average starting SG, not a star. If any other team is dumb enough to offer him more than $8 mil per year, I'd let homey walk out the door.

If New York can land Rondo this summer and draft a Towns/Okafor I could see him bolting. The Knicks are bad but they have a lot of money.

Lebron said he coveted Wes as the missing piece early in the season. What Lebron wants, the Cavs get...Love will be gone. The Knicks aren't exactly famous for being careful

I want Wes back as much as any player but only if he can play again at the same level

I agree but in the east, Rondo, Hardaway, Wes, Melo, Towns/Okafor would be a competitive playoff team.

Dude, the salary cap still applies to Lebron... Even if traveling and other such things don't.

I don't see how 6th in the East with guys that would be hell to play with would be enticing to him

If they keep LA they'll be better next year. And they were contenders this year before guys went down. That Knicks team would have no chance at contending

Broy was never sold out for this city. Did roy put on a blazer uni a day after surgery And tweet it out to lift his team to victory? Did roy put on an iron man mask and cheer for his boys doing battle? Roy was a great player and he did a lot for the team, but he kind of had some arrogance to him as well. Wes doesnt have that, hes the most likeable guy and hes tough as nails. Dude went down with an Achilles and limped off the court like it was a sprained ankle. I dont care if he's just an off the bench guy with limited minutes or if he gets back to his starter self, I want him on this team. And im positive it will be the later, hes already drilling one legged threes and changing his game.

Yeah I'll be shocked if Wes leaves; nobody else is offering him huge dollars. NY has a ton of pressure to win now they won't bring in a guy rehabbing an injury that could be out to start the season. Cavs have no salary cap space. So it's really up to him; does he want a short contract here to try and prove he deserves that big payday or does he want to lock in a long term deal at less per year but more guaranteed money.

Many of you all are looking at this wrong; it's not the teams decision how long he signs for its Wes'. The team will pay him at least his market rate. Wes decides how long it'll be.

Sounds like some of you think Kamans contract is non guaranteed. If so yes the date it becomes guaranteed is written into the contract; it can be June 30th before free agency, at the end of July after free agency or other times. You'd think with Neil's foresight he structured it to be after July 10th so the team can see what they'll do first. If we don't need the cap room or find a good trade they just guarantee it and bring the kaveman back.

There is some rule about not reacquining a player you trade away. So if we trade him and he is cut I don't know if we can resign him. We might be able to since his salary wasn't guaranteed yet perhaps the restriction doesn't apply. I'm not sure on that.

Hmm well I still can't find confirmation of the date Kaman contract becomes guaranteed.
