this is not about the fans, it is about a very special team who did a lot of special things during the year, do i believe the rangers could run off 3 in a row, no doubt! but they have to forget everything and go out have fun.. there is no need anymore to attack an idividual player, we all know well enough by now who is underachieving, got nothing to lose, just win 1 at a time...
I don't see anybody underachieving, I see everybody working there asses off trying to put the puck past Holtby, who has been the difference maker. Is Holtby a great goalie? He's been playing great, but the Rangers just need to continue with what they've been doing ... get the puck to the net, with bodies in front. Don't wait for the perfect shot, just shoot and eventually they will hit pay dirt. It's been a series of inches, and through 5 games most of those inches have favored the Capitals. It's now time for the Rangers to get some of those inches back.
underachieving may not be the right choice of word, and while i agree the team as a whole is giving it there all, but there are a few that come to mind that need to make a difference in the next 2... yandle stepan nash as far as holtby goes, he's played a third of the games lundy has played in PS play, rangers will get to him next game, and its over in NY.
Trotz has devised defense to box Nash out of the center of the ice. Nash needs to be more demonstrative in getting in front of Holtby. Caps' defense has thwarted Nash in getting open in the offensive zone. It's not that the guy isn't trying. Caps not giving him space. Nash needs to play tougher and push back. My god he's 6'4" 230 lbs. and he can't fight back to block Holtby's eyes. Yet Canadiens Gallagher, all 5'7" plants himself in front of Bishop and he takes a pounding and does not budge. Go figure.
While I want Nash to go the front of the net, I want others to spend some time there as well. I don't want to see a shot by Nash from the blue line with nobody in front. That's a wasted opportunity. The only time he should be shooting from the blue line, is when their is a body or two in front. And yes, with Nash's size he should be able to go to the net, take the punishment and give some out as well. Just my opinion, but I don't think Nash has ever had to work his ass off to make it to this level. He probably came up as the coddled star who never had to do the little things, like put his body on the line to score some goals. So now when he's asked to do something like that, it just doesn't come natural to him. I think he's been playing well, but when you're playing a hot goalie, everybody needs to do what they can to take him off his game ... go to the net Rick, go to the net
what has confused me about Nash in this series is that he has given up the body more on the defensive end, he needs to go to the net with that same desire
Pasta u r 100% right. Fuk the caps, fuk the ducks , fuk the Blackhawks. .... Let's grind out a 2-1 and make it 4-1 on Tuesday. Fuk trotz it sounds too much like that azzclown tortz.... This doesn't have to be the capitals year... Next year can.... Let's go Rangers!!
When Nash gives up the body on the defensive side, it's usually one on one. To give up the body going to the net, you can get hit from all angles making it a little harder to stay focused. I want Nash to continue playing well on the defensive side, but I also want him to give up the body and go the net when the opportunities are there. But that goes for all of them. However, if they win, and Nash doesn't score, that's cool. Nash has the ability to force teams to focus on him while he's on the ice, opening up other opportunities for someone else. they don't focus on him when he's taking shots from the blue line with nobody in front of the net. On the offensive side, he needs to play with wreckless abandon ...
it's all even.................... now its mental... OV has never made it past 2nd round, and it ain't gonna happen in NY
NASH with big goal in game 6, YANDLE with assist winning goal game 7 STEPAN ot game, series winning goal... great job boys!
