Obviously this isn't allowed but fighters are being forced to explore every opportunity to make money and the UFC is cockblocking them at every pass. The UFC doesn't want these guys making money. They want starved dogs in the cage.
You frequently see something like $20K to show with a $20K win bonus. What if they changed it to $20K to show, +$10K to win (by decision), but +$20K to finish. If the goal is, as you say, for the fighters to be "starved dogs", that would be an obvious move in that direction. They would actually be spending less money on "boring" fighters who grind out decisions. Not to say it is fair....but it would be in keeping with UFC's mindset.
Guaranteed contracts will make for better fights. Give the guys a living wage, let them train full time, don't have them going out there to get a 'save my life' win all the time, IMO. Finish bonuses are fine by me as well.
