QUOTE

+ AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- Jason Maxiell hit a baseline jumper with 6.8 seconds left to help the Detroit Pistons beat the Seattle SuperSonics 97-93 on Sunday night. The second-year player, forced into the rotation with Rasheed Wallace slowed by ankle injuries, had 17 points and 12 rebounds in 33 minutes, all career highs.
That stat line looks like something Ben Wallace could've had when he was with the Pistons - I'm excited for this guy, glad he's been getting a chance to play substantial minutes lately.
Maxiell takes good shots, and he's just a smart player. He's the kind of guy who no power forward wants to guard, because he's a 6'7/6'8 guy who's very strong and bust you in your chops. He's going to have a career as an NBA starter, and hopefully it will be here in Detroit.
it seems like a lot of 6'7-6'8 power forwards are flourishing in the nba game. I dont know why that is but guys like paul millsap, jason maxiel, and craig smith are all kind of short for their position but are contributing to their teams. maybe its because of the fast pace a lot of teams are playing at now, idk
Now I can see why Joe D and the rest of the front office took Maxiell in that draft. This guy could easily become Ben Wallace y2k w/ better offensive skills. I am starting to see Joe D's vision for the future, building the team around Maxiell and possibly Amir Johnson. I hope we keep both of them, but as of right now Amir got the height at 6-11 but certainly does not have the build to against the top power forwards/centers in the league yet. Both Maxiell and Johnson play the 4 but I hope that does not become problematic, I like both of them especially Amir who I think could become a Jermaine O'Neal type player w/ 3 point range.I mean it is way too early to start thinking about any of them starting but you never know, especially when I never thought Sheed could play the 5 spot till he did w/ a small lineup. As far as Blalock goes, he looks like a slasher but needs to improve his shooting. He was getting significant minutes baCking up Billups but once again it is way too early to make a judement on him.Even tho I think the bench is improving every night, I have a fantasy trade(keep in mind this is only a fantasy trade and salaries most likely won't match up to go through)Pistons get: Mike James, Ricky Davis76ers get: Randy Foye, Flip Murray, Carlos Delfino, Antonio McDyess, Nazr Mohammed, Bracey WrightT-Wolves get: Allen Iverson, Ronald Dupree, Alan Henderson(possibly release)I tried this trade on espn's trade machine and it was successful. The pistons roster would look like this:C. Rasheed WallacePF. Jason MaxiellSF. Tayshaun PrinceSG. Richard HamiltonPG. Chauncey BillupsRotationg. Mike Jamessg/sf. Ricky Davisc. Dale Davispg. Lindsey Hunterpf/c. Amir Johnson(possibly)I would hate to see McDyess or Delfino get dealt but if we had the opportunity to get Mike James along w/ Ricky Davis I think our bench would be complete. I mean I am sure Joe D likes what he is seeing especially yesterday but if him and the Pistons are serious about a run at not only the east but the the NBA title I think this trade like this should be considered. HoLLa baCk
Intresting trade you have there. I think we all thought that Dumars was terrible at drafting players (ala Darko) but I think with Maxiell we begin to see that he's the GM for a reason..

Darko was bad, but Delfino and Prince seemed to be pretty good. Don't forget Amir Johnson either.
He has a chance because of the direction the league is headed (small ball)But against quick 7-footers he stands no chance (like Amare, Garnett, Notwitzki...)
He has the same chance Ben Wallace has. He's bigger then Ben, and has the same Leaping ability as well.
Another good performance by Maxiell(11 points, 3 boards, 1 blk, 17 minutes), now I am really starting to see why Joe D and the rest of the front office officially said goodbye to Darko and Ben. If J Max continues at this rate I would let Ben and Darko go for the futures of Maxiell and Amir Johnson(I hope Flip can start working him into the rotation). HoLLa baCk

Maxiell had a real nice game last night as well in Cleveland. I really love what this kid brings to the game and what he does for his team. I remember watching him at Cinci a couple years ago, and I liked him then, but I didn't know he'd get these kind of minutes this quickly. But, he has really produced and he brings an amazing amount of energy off the bench for Detroit. He's always hustling and running hard, he's VERY powerful, he's a great athlete, he's strong, and how could you not like a 6'7'' banger? I love guys like that (Maxiell, Gomes, Hayes, etc.). He's going to be a very nice rotational player for Detroit for a long time, and I look forward to seeing him get his minutes increased as the years go on. Also, some of the dunks he has thrown down this year have just been downright NASTY.
Jason has been playing very very well of late. He is earning his playing time and making the most out of it by performing at a level that was a bit unexpected from him so soon in his second year. Last year I thought that we needed to get him developed but now it looks like he is developing a lot faster then I ever thought he would. I am excited to see what he can do with even more minutes and I hope that he continues his great play.
I really like Maxiell. He has been playing very well as of late, and I hope he someday becomes a starter for the Pistons

Nothing more to say then that.
Dude, he's played in how many games? Theres no way you can tell this early into a career. Don't blow your load yet.
How many games have you actually seen him play? People have 'blown their loads' over players who havent played at all.
Maxiell certainly has shown signs of being an All Star caliber player, but I think until he gets consistant minutes and we can see what he can really do, we won't really know how good he is.
Maxiell scored 12 points and had 4 boards in 16 min tonight against the hornets. Not too shabby at all.
