What credit? Rockets got 2 seed because Spurs lost a close one to Pelicans on closing night. Otherwise, the Rockets would've been 5 seed.

The Rockets real problem is their coach. They run a offense that runs the least amount of screens in the NBA and Harden is 45% of the offense. That's crazy. It's a one man offense that's easy to stop. If the Rockets got a real coach Harden would be used coming off screens and used as a bailout ISO option to a real offense.

They did, a big reason for that over achievement is that D-Mo is a 25 year old player that has a post game and a three point shot and no one really expected much from him. He's out now so that hurts us a ton right now but it is what it is.

You're right, the other 81 games didn't matter...

McHale is terribad, but will the Rockets fire him after giving him that extension? His offense is seriously Nate McMillan 2.0, it's either ISO or standing around doing half assed passes.

Unlikely. Les the owner has never ever fired a coach. He lets their contract expire. So firing McHale would be a first for him. What sucks most is that Budenholzer was the Rockets first option after Adelman but he still wanted to be an assistant at the time. How they go from Budenholzer to McHale I'll never know, the guy must have given an incredible interview. If they continue to roll with McHale then the FO will get what they deserve each time another coach embarrasses the team like this. I've never seen a coach just sit down and watch another team go on a 18-0 run without doing a single thing...

The Blazer team reminds me so much of the Roy lead team. Everything revolves around Harden and how he creates for other teammates. When you can shut down Harden, you shut down the team. They were better with Parsons because he could create on the offensive end. They should have never let him go

I didn't say what if. The bottom line is the Rockets had no control over getting the 2 seed. Spurs were in the driver's seat. Rockets got lucky. That's the truth.

You seem to not understand how things went the last month or so of the seasosn. The Spurs were in 6th, they went on a winning streak to even catch the Rockets. Your very thread is proof of this, The Rockets are a 2-3 seed for most of the year, every time they lost a game you'd bump this little thread claiming that they were dropping down the standings. They never did. The Rockets were in the driver's seat, it was the Spurs that had to catch up and try to catch the Rockets. Not the other way around.

They had COMPLETE control over getting the 2nd seed, know why? They beat the Pelicans in the last week of the season and the Spurs didn't. It basically came down to that.

Who was the last team to play? Because I'd say that whoever that was actually had the final say. Controlling their own destiny. Was that the rockets? I wasn't really paying attention.

Rockets played the Jazz on the last day and the Spurs played the Pelicans. The Spurs knew exactly what was on the line in that game and lost. Rockets still had to win out after losing to the Spurs and one of those games included the Pelicans that were still tied with the Thunder.

Had the Rockets lost to the Pelicans the best they could have done was the 5th seed.
