Ryan Callahan underwent emergency appendectomy surgery today and is out indefinitely. (Erlendsson)

Callahan’s timetable for a return is undetermined right now. (LeBrun)

Tampa Bay plays Montreal tomorrow with a chance to clinch a spot in the Eastern Conference Final.

He had 24 goals and 30 assists for Tampa Bay this season but has only three assists in 12 playoff games.

He is averaging 18:17 per game and has 42 hits, 9 blocked shots and not killing penalties.

In 16 playoff games with the Bolts Cally has ZERO goals. I know MSL is pretty much out of gas now, but he was a huge reason we made the SCF last season, and even still if he scores 1 playoff goal for us this season, that will be more than Cally has ever scored for TB.

Get well soon Cally. At least you will have plenty of money to help you feel better...:).

as usual with Ranger fans, once a player is no longer with the team it's tee-time for taking shots at them. Classy.

    ?

I have no issues with Cally at all. He did a solid job here and was a great leader. I am not happy he is out (did I say I was?). And stating the fact that he has ZERO playoff goals for the Bolts is not knocking him...it is stating a fact bro.

The only thing usual here are your comments...LOL.

He had his chance to stay and got greedy. I hardly see people taking shots at him here, just calling it like it is. Let's hope for a speedy recovery so he can go goalless against the Ranger in the conference finals ;)

What former players have been talked about here? I haven't seen anything like that in ages. Who's taking shots at Cally? It's just stating that he's now out of the lineup.

We never saw Caly in playoffs really, he was always hurt. Just like Drury. At lease St.Louis is playing and actually assisted on crucial goals.

I am not upset about Caly leaving at all, I am more upset about Boyle and Strallman. Imagine having Boyle instead of Glass and Strallman instead of Boyle. That could have been a SC team IMO. I know that Boyle wanted 3rd line center role, but I think had Sather been nicer and showed that he wanted him here, he would have stayed as a 4th line role player. He is on the 4th line in Tampa isn't he?

dumb comments like "at least you have a plenty of money to help you feel better" annoy me because this is a guy who put his sweat, blood and tears into the jersey when he was a Ranger and there's no need for the snide remarks. This isn't Bruce Driver we're talking about here. Chuckles couldn't just leave it at saying he was out and his stats, he had to get his little shot in there.

Boyle makes a little over 500 K more than Glass, so not sure we could have swung that. On top of that I don't think we miss Boyle. Glass has actually not been a disaster in the playoffs, and Fast getting better has helped as well. Sheppard is also similar to Boyle.

I do agree about Stralman though. Same cap hit as D. Boyle, 3 extra years though. If we had Stralman over D. Boyle that would be a big boost for us. Can't argue with that. Not sure I'd want 5 years of Stralman, but right now and next year...yeah give me Stralman for sure.

He went for the money 31, that again is fact. GOOD FOR HIM. I didn't knock him for it. Per the norm, the only one getting fired up in this thread is you...LOL.

Cally took the money, that is crystal clear, I don't knock him for it, but I also don't pretend it isn't true. You keep doing your usual though...LOL.

Strallman would have accepted 4M per rumors at the time. Plus he received 4 years not 5, I believe.

And I agree with NYR31. Callahan gave his all every single shift when he was here, and he deserves whatever he can get if it makes him happy. He does not owe us anything

I don't think that is true on Stralman, but either way yeah I would rather have him than D. Boyle, hard to argue (he got 5 years 22.5 mill).

    Don't agree on B. Boyle.

And you don't just agree with 31, you agree with prety much everyone. I don't think anyone said a bad word about Cally. Just that he left and clearly went for the money. Good for him.

    Seems like quite the overreaction.

Well, Chuck but not only for the money. I think Tampa are favorites to win the Cup this year. I think either one of the 4 teams in the East that is left today will beat Hawks or Ducks. I think in 5 games too. If Tampa beats Montreal they have a great chance to beat us and Caps. Probably they want us more. Bishop never lost against us. So he did not go only for the money but money and Stanley Cup contender team. So..... Yeah, maybe he did not do well by us Ranger fans, but he did well for himself.

Pouliot went for the money as an example.

Chuck, to be fair, saying "at least he has his money to make him feel better" was kind of an unnecessary shot at him. As someone who's had that procedure done, no amount of money is making you feel better and I'm sure missing playoff games because of it makes it even worse. You can barely even sit up.

    B. Boyle would have been helpful, but as Chuck pointed out the emergence of Fast has greatly lessened the loss of Boyle. Fast may not be as big and doesnt help on faceoffs, but Fast can bump up if needed whereas Boyle couldnt. He started at the TB 3C and lasted about 10 games before he was dropped to the 4th for most of the yr.

And I was going to mention this the other day, Glass is playing better in that he hasnt been a liability. There were times during the season where his inept play lead directly to goals against and, in some cases, losses. That hasnt happened yet (knock on wood). Of course, he is still pointless (the only Ranger who has played all games to register 0 points), but at least he isnt allowing the opposition to score much either.

Prodigy, I disagree on B.Boyle. His size and faceoffs is huge loss this year. I agree on Fast, I do think he contributed to the 3:3 tie right now, but B.Boyle would win crucial faceoffs at the end of the game and had tremendous ability to get the puck out of the zone to stop those surges. We are missing that right now on the offense. Last year with a one goal lead, when B.Boyle was in the faceoff circle with opposing goalie pulled I always failed at ease, now I do not anymore and that is what we are missing right now. For 500K more we could have had him.

TB is the favorite to win the cup this year? Based on what 2009? Come on now. No doubt they can win it, just like 3 or 4 other teams can, but no way are they the favs to win it.

I'm with Mess here. Overreaction for sure. Cally went for the money. He has his money to make him feel better. I know I'd feel better if I had it...LOL. No knock, just stating the facts. If facts are knocks, yes I knocked him...LOL.

I don't think we miss B. Boyle at all. Stralman I would love to have over D. Boyle, just not sure I will say that in years 4 & 5 of his deal.

I didnt say it wasnt a loss, I just said Fast has helped lessen the loss. No doubt we're still missing some of what he brought to the table. Size, end of game situational play, etc. No argument there.

The money also wasnt an issue with him though. I dont ever remember hearing that discussed. If I remember correctly, Boyle would have signed for what we offered but wanted that expanded roll. If you're argument is to go 500k HIGHER than what they "agreed" on to entice him to stay, I'm glad we didnt pay all that money for a 4th line guy no matter who it is.
