Grand daughter Linsey Berra is pushing for her grand father to be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for what he's not only meant to the game of baseball but also for his Miltary career & the part he played during the civil rights movement. Said Linsey, "He was one of those who was just color blind, he went out of his way to be friendly & helpful to Jackie Robinson, Larry Doby, Minnie Minoso & Elston Howard." Berra & Howard became very close friends.
Yogi had so many great quip sayings, "Berraisms....." "90% of the game is Physical, the other half mental" "Little League is good, it keeps Parents off the streets" "You better cut the pizza in four pieces because I'm not hungry enough to eat six" "I never blame myself when I'm not hitting. I just blame the bat and if it keeps up, I change bats. After all, if I know it isn't my fault that I'm not hitting, how can I get mad at myself?" 'You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you are going, because you might not get there.'
90 yrs old, not sure I want to live in this fkd up world that long, by then, it will be The War to end all Wars, a Racial Jihad? Yes........... BTW-Rick, So, Yogi's 40 yrs your younger?????
More like 50 years my senior...............................hey ...............................................................................................................I can dream.
Yogi at 90 years old today. One of my early Yankee favorites, 10 championship rings, splendid example of a Yankee Franchise Player. I don't care what poll results may state. Yogi is the greatest living player period.
No, this was actually the first time. If you mean just deleting threads in general, then yeah. :MARIS61:
He needs to get 100,000 votes for the medal, I hope he gets it. The last baseball recipient I believe was Ernie Banks.
I love Yogi, yet Mays IMO is the greatest living player, Yogi, (I can't bring myself to say Yogi is 2nd best), so I will say: Yogi is the First, Mays Yogi's backup for the 1st and best living Legend alive.....a paradox of sorts...... Tho' if were counting W.S. Rings, Yogi was as essential to the Yanx IMO, as anyone other great, just my 2 cents.......!
and here I thought you were Yogi's Grand Father, Rick........... Weren't you the 1st Son of King Tut?????
No I was the first son of Adam. How quickly you forget..........................................................................................................................dad!
Aw Shucks, I'm sorry, I forgot you weren't King Tuts Dad, but Adams 1st Son.....now it all makes sense. Beware of Women offering you Apples.....
