Joe DiMaggio began his 56 game hitting streak against Chicago's Eddie Smith, going 1 for 4 with an RBI. To fellow posters here like Ron (59) & Rob (Mattingly) it must have been very exciting to witness the start of a great run.

NTM- Joe's 75 game hitting streak with the PCL SF Seals.....(but not on this day)

Oh yeah babeeee, Joe D, was IMO, the one player with more talent than others, and had all the intangibles; others did not have...........(less maybe Ted Williams), tho' Joe D, when facing the Sox, seemed to always outshine/out-play Ted, always.....stole Ted's Thunder more than once....

I'd of given both my balls to of seen Joe play, but then I'd be dead by now.....
Some of the best books on Yankee Greats, have been books about Joe D......

Other than the infamous Great Book, 59 used his powers to influence me via mental telepathy and brainwashing, I thus bought the Overall Yanx book: best in the world - "Yankee Century".....
