Don't think they are going to make an abrupt move and get rid of him. Nor do I think he is done anything bad enough to remove him abruptly. I however am not looking forward to see another year like what I saw last year.
Every season for 3 years (and before that when coaching other NBA teams?), Stotts wins big in the first half of the season, then is almost down to .500 the rest of the way. Obviously, we need 2 head coaches, one for each half of the season. Which experienced head coach always sucks at first, but finishes fast later in the season? I mean really, let's try it.
I'm fine with Stotts and thinks he gets to much heat on this board. If a player screws up its Stotts fault, if we get outplayed its Stotts fault, if a ref misses a call its Stotts fault. He is the whipping boy for a lot of posters here. We had a top 10 Offense and a top 5 D before Wes went down and if you want to win a championship history has shown you need both a top 10 D and a top 10 O. Now if Stotts had to quit for some reason and we had to replace him i'd be giving Chicago a call and offering a secound rounder for Thibs. If that didn't work I would make my next call to Jeff Van Gundy, hasnt' coached in awhile might be overrated from NY but i'v always liked him as a coach.
I got it. Bring back Sarge to whip the boys into shape the first two thirds of the year and let Stotts finish it out. His time including playoffs would be over when they usually fall off.
Don't credit mj with the success the Warriors had under him. He was a horrible coach and the team had moderate success despite him. Players liked him because he let them do whatever they wanted. Hoiberg and Malone are the next good coaches, don't fire stotts for a retread.
No matter how many times you say it nothing will change the fact that the Blazers simply can't afford your pay grade.
It is Stotts' fault when we get outplayed. And every game it's due to a combination of 4 things -Inconsistency- This team was the most inconsistent team all year, not just from game to game, but within each game itself. From blowing huge leads to making huge comebacks, the fact that through 87 games the team couldn't find a way to steady itself worries me -Slow Offense- This team battled the shot clock more then any team I've watched. Sets were too slow to develop, and were rather unimaginative for an offensive coach. The Blazers play off of teams doubling Aldridge and ball movement. But they consistently cross half court with 17 seconds on the shot clock, run 10 seconds of unneeded motion to get LA the ball with 7 seconds. Teams double him with 4 seconds remaining and then you get a wild shot by LA or a desperate shot after the kick out. -Defensive Passiveness- Teems have it extremely easy against us. They aren't bothered and are obviously comfortable playing against our defense. It's designed to show teams to settle into midrange shots, but you don't wanna tan to settle into anything. The fact he Nevers switches up schemes make it extremely easy for the opposition -Lack of Adjustments- Remember Beno Udrih going off in the regular season, and then in the playoffs? Only because we allowed him to do the only thing hes really good at (midrange shooting) over and over and over again? And the fact that when certain lineups obviously aren't working, he'll still play them? I mean, the dude never trusts his bench, even when his bench is outplaying his starters. And he also runs Dame into the ground, even when it's obvious he needs time off.
