http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=160067It's getting hard to watch. Sometimes, I'd rather watch Blues Clues with my kids than any NFL game. Before you go crazy on me, let me drive home my point. I don't mind intrigue, competitiveness or even parity because of the salary cap and revenue sharing. I do have a problem with every .500 team and teams that are not even close to the average mark in both conferences having a chance at the playoffs with two weeks to go. I have a problem when teams look like world beaters in one game, and then the next look like they don't have a clue. How about the team that looks awful in the first half, like they belong in NFL Europe and then wakes up and looks like a team that could give the dynasties of the Steelers, Cowboys, 49ers and Patriots a run for their money. If you think that this doesn't happen, let's take a snapshot look at some recent NFL action to illustrate the point a little more. The Saints walloped the Dallas Cowboys at home last Sunday night, and America officially found its new girlfriend, a hot to trot, sexy outfit from a city that needs a hug and a whole lot more. On Sunday, the Saints looked to a large degree like the 'Aints' as the Washington Redskins won 16-10 at the Superdome. It's not that the Redskins won, it is how they won. Washington won with a rookie quarterback starting his fourth game in Jason Campbell. They won with Ladell Betts and not Clinton Portis at running back. They shut down an offense that has been routinely putting up gobs of yards and points against pretty much everyone they play. The Redskins held Reggie Bush to 33 net yards of offense, and harassed Drew Brees all day. How do you explain a Redskins defense shutting down a high-octane attack when they have played poorly for the most part all year? Take another example, the San Francisco 49ers got beat at home last Sunday by the somewhat awful Green Bay Packers. The 49ers, losers of three straight then went to hungry Seattle and looked hideous in the first half, only to blow out the NFC Champion Seahawks in a must-win game for both teams. Or how about the Tennessee Titans, the recent feel-good story of the league with rookie quarterback Vince Young beating the Jacksonville Jaguars, 24-17 on Sunday? You might say no big deal. Did you realize that the Titans won the game while only having the ball for 15:38, allowing 396 net yards of offense, while only accumulating 98 yards for their side; and just for good measure, the Titans were 0-8 on 3rd down conversions, while allowing the Jaguars to convert 10 out of 19 times. How did the Titans win and score 24 points with such mind-boggling statistics in favor of the Jags? Very simple. How about your standard defensive output and fantasy football dream of THREE touchdown returns by the defense? You say amazing, I say disgusting. The Jags should know, they ran over the Eagles this year in Philadelphia without their top three defensive players and a backup quarterback, while Donovan McNabb was still playing, after the Jaguars had been hammered by the awful Houston Texans the week before. I should stop while I can, but did anybody actually bear to watch the absolute disaster that unfolded in Lambeau Field between Detroit and Green Bay? That game and terrible performance set the NFL back 20 years. The Giants have "talent on loan from god" to rob a Limbaugh-ism and I have a feeling the good lord has sprinkled stupid-dust all over Giants Stadium and for that matter, almost anywhere the Big Blue Dumb Crew travels. The Patriots looked great in a blowout over Houston in Foxboro. This after, looking awful against the Dolphins, Lions, Bears and Jets in recent weeks. The Texans can't play good against anyone, except for the Jaguars. I wonder if Houston would be able to beat Yao Ming in a game of two-hand touch. My good friend and loyal listener/caller "Pat in Royal Oak, Michigan" has always complained about the salary cap and parity, and the awful football for years. I have disagreed time and time again, because I thought the cap was a great idea. I can't disagree anymore. Parity is only good if the games are well played. Right now, I think I'd rather watch a Division I agree with this guy. Professional sports is obsessed with making money. So they attempt to make things fair for every team so that EVERYONE can make money and be competitive. Now you have too many teams in professional sports, salary caps that limit movement (hard to argue again't taking the salary cap away, it is needed). Look around, everybody can be beaten by anybody, we don't have a lot of great teams...etc...Not only in the NFL but in the NBA...the NBA is filled with tons of average teams where the talent is so far spread out that it's nearly impossible to get enough of it to make a GREAT team. Everyone is now competitive but the level of play is down. Is this a good sacrifice?

I like that there is no dominant teams anymore, its all up for grabs. Wouldn't you rather see a Cinderella story then the same team killing everyone week in and week out? Yeah I think its bad for fans who want their teams to win, but you have to look at it for the whole league. This way every team has a chance to win, you never know whats going to happen. I find this more interesting.

I would rather watch dominant teams make battle than B & C teams trading wins back and forth.

The consistency factor has also really bugged me. It's not like, "Hey, I'm watching the Saints play the Cowboys. That's a batle of two great teams. This should be fun"You have no idea what team is going to show up, what Quarterback is going to show up (Tom Brady). It's hard to look forward to anything when you know everything is goig to go out of whack.

I for one absoltuley love waching the NFL. I actually get more in to Cowboys games then I do for any team in the NBA. It might have to do with their being less games, but I am always very pumped for games. I think the consistency factor actually brings excitement. Any team can win on any night is how it is in the NFL, and I think it is great.

We dropped 3 of 4 and gave up the 2nd most rushing yards in a game since 1970. Colts D sucks.
