CRISPR is the hottest new technology, extremely powerful "multiplier" as a research tool for genome editing and engineering. I would recommend pulling as many review articles and method papers as you can. The level of creativity possible with this system blows my mind.
Life Tech and Sigma both have extensive products, services and information. This technology will change how drug discovery research is done up through preclinical in vivo models.

How does this affect in vivo models?

For example, it can be delivered via lentivirus, construct can be inducible and also both knock-in or knockout gene function. As this type of editing can impact germ line, essentially you can create instant in vivo models and modify the target(s) within the same colony....no waiting 6-12 months.

Personally I think assay cohorts can be reduced, using less animals as the technology has very high fidelity.
