Pau's ancient and yet he still had a better season than most of his recent years despite playing last summer.
Agreed. If we could somehow get Cousins I wouldn't mind a downgrade at SF. But SAC signed Gay to a long-term deal.
People playing in the NBA have injuries all the freaking time. You may as well attribute in-season injuries to not wearing a tinfoil hat as to summer league play. Get back to me if he shows up at fall camp with an injury sustained during the summer, then maybe you'll have a point. Of course, all you have to do is look back at summer injuries to guys like EWill and CJ and you might come to the realization that injuries, like shit, just happen to athletes.
But athletes who regularly take the time to let their bodies recharge for at least a few weeks every year tend to have less severe injuries and heal faster and more completely than those who don't.
He had a good season, but not a full one. His nagging injuries were more detrimental and harder to recover from than they would have been had he rested.
Totally agree. If you have a plan for improving the team, by all means you move him. If you're doing it because he's inconsistent, without any other real plan, well that's just dumb
Thats something id be really fine with. It could happen but its a pipe dream and would need a third team.
Hah. He's a borderline top 10 SF. There's so many guys I would take over him. The thing is you guys forget what happens if you trade for a lesser player.. usually he's cheaper. Then you use that cap space to work out other things. Hell, I'd trade Batum for Matt Barnes and a pick to save $9M. Then if you bring back Wes and LA back you still have $15M or so in cap space. That's enough to add a Tyson Chandler and a backup PG like CJ Watson. And guess what, if you do that Batum trade and LA and Wes don't return, you have $45M+ in cap space. That's why they'd trade him, to save cap space while not downgrading much
So from Lillard/Wes/Batum/Aldridge/Rolo to Lillard/Wes/Barnes/Aldridge/Chandler? That somehow made us better? bleh.
Debatably. Plus the pick and the backup PG that were mentioned. Yeah, I could see how one might think that would make us better. At the very least tougher, and probably better built for the playoffs.
That lineup has more balance offensively and is better defensively. Plus it's cheaper. And Barnes is the type of toughminded guy we need.
Thats where we differ. I think Batum is borderline top 5 and there are very few even solid defend and hit 3 guys on the market let alone a guy who can facilitate like Batum can. I don't like what you suggested but its not a horrible idea to package Batum and use him on a superior player at another position, I just don't like the idea of trading him for "capspace" or young prospects then signing a big name who isn't actually better then who we have at the position like a Tyson Chandler.
What exactly do you mean by more balance offensively? Looks like the exact same balance to me. Heavy lifting from the top 2 guys, Wes a close 3rd, C relying on putbacks, and then our SF we lost the passing from that position. You didn't alter the balance at all.
Chandler is easily a better defender and a better fit offensively. Barnes is a better defender and just as good of a shooter. Lopez is so unathletic that defenses can sag and still get back to contest his shot. I mean more balance as in a big that can finish above the rim, instead of LA Kaman and Rolo, all of who seem to DISLIKE dunking.
We have no one that can slash. Nobody on the whole roster. Barnes can cut and slash towards the rim and finish
