No 71 that would not prevent Kilorn from scoring. It will prevent Stamskoses and Backstomes and Ovechkins for running our guys and breaking their legs. Stall was hurt, McD was hurt and God knows how many others were hurt because of those illegal hits that were never called. If you set precedence during the season that, that is not allowed those hits will be minimized. As soon as team trailing Rangers in a game or in the series the go to those hits, break McDs leg and win the series. If there was a guy like McIlarth, he could have knocked the teeth out of Stamkos, get suspended for few games but Stamkos would be out with the next game due to that injury cause by McIlarath. Teams know how soft Rangers are and take those libetries and by the time ECF comes around our guys are hurt to the point where they can't skate and take the man which allows Kilorn to score those goals.
Clearly that is the much bigger need, but let the people have their say...LOL. And BTW...Girardi is very physical...good try slipping that one in.... Staal is more about position and reach.
How many jeff beukeboom's are playing right now in the NHL? Chara.... And he also has one hella of a shot which is just as meaningful if not more than his physicality... Phefium and everyone is down on him...Weber again more high end that Beuke... Dylan has none of the traits those others I mentioned he was a reach and a bust just like Bobby sangiellite
You are comical 2009...winning the cup isn't easy man. The guy has his teams in position just about every season. Mutiple finals trips. ECF trip. The run last season was way unexpected and magical. This season we didn't play as well as we needed to in the playoffs, but point at the players not AV.
McD could barely skate in game 7. Stamkos did his job. Hawks captain won the series in game 7 for them, ours was hurt. This should be taken lightly and real issue here. This has to change.
On top of that Al, these guys think if Mac was up here other teams would stop hitting. As if we haven't seen OV do THAT EXACT SAME THING to team after team...just us right. This AV thing and Mac thing are nuts to me. D is NOT the issue AND AV has been to a SCF and an ECF in two years here.
Yes...and having Mac here stops it all...LOL...so funny. If Mac can skate at an NHL level AWESOME let him be the 7th dman. If he cannot then we have no use for him. EITHER WAY players will play how they play. In the 1st round OV ran a few Isles players, they are one of the toughest teams in the NHL. What happened there??? This is not 1995 anymore, the game has changed and we need to understand that.
Tough season for McD... Started off with injuries from last season (shoulder) accidentally hurt Hank and Zucc, played with a broken foot... Looking for a bounce back season next season
Who was running our guys and breaking their legs? Kreider could knock someone into next year if he wanted to. You don't want to take dumb penalties either. You guys need to face it that Mcilrath most likely won't play in the NHL.. It's a little annoying frankly that they wasted a pick on him. Ryan Graves, a 6th rounder, has a better shot at making it than he does. 6TH ROUNDER.
No...Absolutely not! I am not blaming the players. The effort was there, they really did best they could. I blame AV and GM! Good point Al. Maybe there are none available, but if that is the case then we won't win the Cup until one or two becomes available. That is the truth. I just think even if one would become available, he would not fit AV's system because he needs 8 Yandles and Boyles with his stupid stretch passes. It is not a knock on Yandle or Boyle, I am just trying to prove the point. I actually like both of them.
LOL...and that says it all. I am not blaming the players. The effort was there, they really did best they could. I blame AV and GM! No comeback for that type of logic....the effort was there as we had 45 shots in the last two home games and didn't score for over 144 minutes...that's on the coach for sure...LOL. The guy is good enough to make the ECF and the SCF's twice (got to game 7 on his own ice in one of them), but not good enough to win the cup as a coach. Again the logic is there for sure. Love it 2009...please keep the good stuff coming.
And BTW...I am not saying AV is the best coach in the world. I am not saying he doesn't have things to learn and things he can do differently, he clearly does, but I do think he is a good coach with a good track record, and a great two years here. Maybe he will lead us to a cup, and maybe not, I don't know, but I do know his results in two years here have been very good and I won't get on him now. Maybe that changes after next year or the year after, but right now I cannot get on him. Only thing I hated was MSL on the PP. Once he moved MSL down with Hags and Hayes I had no other issues with AV.
He doesn't learn. How did Boston beat Vancouver? It wasn't even close in game 6 and game 7. Boston thugs won the Cup. He doesn't learn because he is doing the same here. Two of the top3 Ds were hurt Chuck. There is more that what you see. They make safe plays because they are injured and have no confidence in their legs. Why do you think during the season when opposing team scores a goal Rangers do not panic and score within few minutes. What is that magic? No, they are healthy and have talent to do so. During playoffs they are hurt because there is always that last resort that others can use against this team. Had McD been healthy, I think we would have won game 7. He is the reason why we beat the Caps. And by the way MLS on PP is major reason why we are eliminated. It is the little adjustments like that, which makes a difference between winning and losing. AV is the head coach not Scott Arniel.
I think Mel is right on! MSL needs to retire or play elsewhere. Absolutely no reason not to give big mac a chance.
So now he doesn't learn, it is all his fault, and it is on him that a player got hurt. YES damn you AV for breaking McD's foot. Good stuff 09...didn't realize AV could control all that. As for Mac...HE CANNOT SKATE AT AN NHL LEVEL. Not sure why that is so difficult for you guys to understand. If he improves his skating by all means get him up here and let him be the 7th dman and learn the NHL game that way playing here and there and practicing with the pros. I am all for that. And the comical stuff about injuries is laughable. AGAIN did Wilson run Isles players yes or no? YES. Did OV run Isles players yes or no? YES. Are the Isles one of the toughest teams in the NHL? YES. Did it stop the Caps? NO. The fact that you guys think a rookie dman like Mac will stop teams from playing their game is COMICAL.
As for MSL there is only one way I want him back. Hags prices himself out of here AND MSL takes 1.7-2 mill for one season to come back. That is the only way I even think about MSL coming back.
Exactly RagFan4Ever. Move MSL to fourth line, bring up your beloved Glass even, at least he would have won the board battles. Instead he does nothing and continues hoping to have a different result and then saying stupid stuff during press conference by summarizing the game. Do something different. Game 5 sucked, change something for game 7. Nothing is done. And yes, it is on him and Glen Sather that players got hurt. Absolutely! 100%. Bring the guys who will protect others and stop these hits from behind. Since NHL today is the way it is, then we need to police ourselves. If in 10 years NHL changes it ways and start calling those penalties then AV will be a perfect head coach who could actually win. It today's NHL he stands no chance.
No MLS. Not even free. He is done. AV will keep playing him on PP and result will be the same. The guy needs to retire and take Boyle with him. Boyle may go from 39 to 50 in one year also just like MLS. Get those old guys out of here. And no Williams either. He will come here to die as well just like everyone else. Stop with these old guys. Enough of that.
PLEASE I beg you KEEP POSTING 2009...this is awesome stuff. Bump MSL down to the 4th line and move Glass up. It is 100% on AV and Sather that McD broke his foot. This is awesome bro. Please keep posting. This is a win now team, Williams is good fit for what we lack, I doubt we can afford him though.
