Or he knows he could be traded to the Nets.

I would have said Cleveland but they're actually good now. Not like when Lu and Ben Wallace were traded there.

Wallace couldn't stand the PaxSkiles culture and spoke truth to power.

Gasol supported Thibodeau publicly at several points during the season. But the veteran center, known for his high basketball IQ, also had pointed questions for Thibodeau during the Bulls' free-agent pitch last July about how he planned to use him and the coach's reputation for burning out players.

Obviously satisfied with the answers, Gasol chose the Bulls over the Lakers, Thunder, Knicks and Spurs. He thrived in Thibodeau's inside-out half-court approach, averaging 18.5 points and 11.8 rebounds. Gasol also played in all but four games, averaging 34.4 minutes.

More from that article about front office declaring it will meddle with the coaching staff and duties:

When the Bulls hired Vinny Del Negro in 2008, management urged the first-time coach — at any level — to hire veteran assistants. Del Harris and Bernie Bickerstaff, both former head coaches, didn't pan out.

Speaking last week, Forman said the new coach — and Hoiberg obviously has college head coaching experience — will pick his staff.

"Our coaches have the ability to hire who they want to hire, with approval from the front office," Forman said. "But more times than not, we're going to be very supportive of who they want on their staff."

Still, it's not out of the realm of possibility for management to suggest a veteran coach. Doug Collins approached Thibodeau without management's knowledge shortly after Adams' dismissal to offer his services. Thibodeau declined.

Collins, whose son, Chris, coaches at Northwestern, spends considerable time in Chicago.
