...no longer "The Beast". ...The A.L. East has a combined 20-30 record over their last 10 games. (.400 winning %)
Reminds me of '00, no one wanted to win a game, what did the Yankees get that year 87 wins. One of the brighter (seriously) moves Cashman made was getting David Justice who put some electric in the Yankees banana peel. Don't look for a repeat this year.
...yup, didn't that team go into the PS losing something like 15 of their last 18 regular season games?...or something like that?
^^^just checked...I was dead on...wow, I'm pretty fucking good. http://www.baseball-almanac.com/teamstats/schedule.php?y=2000&t=nya
I remember on bitter Blue Jays fan on the old ESPN Boards barking about how the Jays got their ass kicked by Tampa Bay at a time they needed to stay in the race. The Yankees had gone into Boston late in the season and had swept the Sox. Same Blue Jays Fan posted thanks for the help. Old Buddy Jonah Falcon responded to that post saying "you're next" unfortunately the Yankees did not do well. They sure kicked butt in the playoffs and World Series. I'd had an old Yankee hat that I bought at the stadium during the '80 season. After the 2K series I chucked it and bought a new one. When I came out of the store wearing the brand new one some ass said "I'll bet you just became a Yankee Fan after this series. I said not so buddy, since '55!
2000 Yanks were leading the division by 5.5 with five games to go. They lead the division by 4.5- 8 games throughout September and won the division by 2.5 games.......it was ....kinda, never in doubt. I remember Torre fielding questions from the media during the final couple of weeks and he acted and sounded like➡ relax, we got this under control.
