Here are mine.... Lundqvist - A Talbot - A McD - A - Girardi - A - Stall - A - (given his injury) Klein - B+ (He was never the same after the injury, but still was solid) Yandle - A - (He really did what he was asked to do, we all new his + / -) Boyle - B (Because of the salary hit of 4.5) Hunwick - B ( very good 7th D) Stepan B + (invisible in ECF) Krieder B ( could have done way more) Fast A - (He exceeded my expectation, next season I think he should be graded tougher) Brassard A (He is the only forward who gets an A. The most consistent player) Nash C + ( Only because of this season goals, otherwise he would have been an F) Zuk A - (I gave a minus because prior to getting injured he did not do anything special against Pens) MSL D - (Sorry MLS but you really failed us this year. At 5.5M) Hags B + ( I know many of you were hard on Hags but he doesn't get paid to score goals. He had no support in lost Hayes and MLS who lost every board battle after Hags passed the pack) Hayes B + (Great season, lost in playoffs but did score a couple of huge goals. First year, I think he is a solid B+) JT Miller B + (He improved the most, and shows the most promise. He was a leader in a lot of the games) D Moore B (He did what I expected him to do) Glass D (And D only because he was the only guy on the team who could hit people, if not for that would have been an F) Shepard C+ AV C (And C only because of good season. IMO He made 2 crucial mistakes. We won game 1, If we score 5:3 and had MLS not fail us there, we could have gone 2:0 games which would have crushed this young Tampa team. MLS should have been off PP during Pens series. Also, at the very least MLS should have been demoted to 4th line. Maybe Hags and Hayes would have been better playing with Shepard. At least Shepard won board battles and maybe Hayes could have done something, plus Hags speed would have been put to better use. He did not even try that. And second for bring Glass here in the first place. Glen Sather B (I think we had personnel to get to SCF. If only Sather could have created a tougher group)
McDonagh was average this year, he deserves no more than a C+. St.Louis i'd give a B- to if you're factoring the playoffs, as he had a good regular season. You can't give Nash less than a B++ with 40 goals, cmon 2009 lets be fair. Lundqvist dosen't merit an A as his # were down some.
as i have stated, proud of entire team & coaches.... as for grading, this is mine for each player for entire year nash A - st louis c- talbot A lundy A kreider B+ klein b- staal c mcd c- girardi b- yandle c glass c hags b- hayes b- jt moore c+ other moore b- zook A brassard A shep c boyle c- hunwick c- av A PP coach D
Rick Nash: B+ in regular season C- in Playoffs overall C lead the team in goals and points during the year, unfortunately his season will be remembered for lack of goals in the playoffs. Yes we all appreciate the defensive hussle but the guy was brought her to put the puck in the net with frequency Derick Brassard: B+ in regular season A- in Playoffs Overall A (to be continued)
don't think any other pure goal scorer scores as much in PS, they are paid more attention too, no doubt nash could have been more aggressive round net, but that doesn't change the facts.. stamkos wasn't ligthen it up either all PS.. u need goals from the unexpected in PS play... we had a few, but not enough, and with the way our guys are paid it should NOT be ALL on nash and st louis... sather, get to it!
Patrick Kane 10 goals Corey Perry 10 goals Jonathan Towes 9 goals Steven Stamkos 7 goals Ryan McDonagh and Dan Boyle each had 3...or 2 less than a 40 goal scorer in Nash I said this before and will again...never once did you get to the edge of your seat when Nash had the puck...anytime OV or the Triplets or Stamkos had the puck you said...oh shit.... I could probably count on one hand (minues a few fingers) where I said oh man Nash got robbed. And that is a problem
Brassard was second on the team in points and tops in assists during the year, and came up huge in the playoffs tops in goals and points. Not a number one center but a very good 1A. Derek Stepan: B+ in regular season B- in Playoffs Overall B Stepan was third in scoring while missing a handful of games. Second on the team in assists with 12 less games played. Need a bit more on the PP IMO out of him. Playoffs outside of the series winner he was MIA in too many games. Again not a #1 center as he couldn't take a faceoff in any zone. (41.4% on draws) MSL: B in regular season (TBC)
Al, I think stepan on pp with kreider improves once msl is off said power play for good. Will be interesting to see what Sather is willing to give him salary wise over the summer
Today's newsday headline, towes Kane stamkos. Have done nothing in first 2 games on the biggest stage of all. If their fans are calling for trades, I'll take em!
