http://ftw.usatoday.com/2015/06/the-bulls-are-hiring-fred-hoiberg-the-anti-tom-thibodeau Thibodeau exits Chicago as the second-most successful coach in team history, and one half of the most acrimonious relationship in the NBA. With the decision to hire Hoiberg, which will be announced officially at a news conference Tuesday according to USA TODAY Sports’ Jeff Zillgitt, the Bulls have made clear their issue with Thibodeau. They just didn’t like him. Hoiberg played for ex-Bulls coach Tim Floyd at Iowa State. At that same time, Bulls GM Gar Forman was an assistant for the Cyclones. Hoiberg played for the Bulls from 1999-2003, when team vice president of basketball operations John Paxson was calling Bulls games on the radio. When Hoiberg took his job at Iowa State, he replaced Greg McDermott, father of Doug McDermott, who plays … for the Bulls. (None of the other coaches, except PJax, were more successful - the line of coaches since say it's not likely to find a better coach) ... The Bulls have opted to spurn Thibodeau, a man who won responsible for the fourth-best record in the NBA the past five years, in favor of a guy who has never coached in the NBA before. The successes of first-time coaches like Brad Stevens in Boston and certainly Kerr in Golden State can dissuade some of those concerns, but Hoiberg remains an unknown. It’s clear that any questions surrounding Hoiberg’s ability are secondary to the disdain felt for Thibodeau. Hopefully, this is an inspired hire that will vault the Bulls back into an NBA finals. (Coaches of 26 teams failed to match Thibs' record the past 5 years)
Welcome, Fred. Most Bulls' fans will embrace you. Ignore them and everyone else. Anything anyone says now doesn't matter. Prepare yourself to win over your squad. You can't do anything truly important until this summer. Enjoy.
Welcome Fred. You are a rookie NBA coach and won nothing of note in the NCAA. I hope you know what you are doing. GarPax seem to like you a lot.
$3M pay raise, chance to coach all the good guys we have, and he still wrestled with becoming coach up until the very end.

Listening to Freddy Del Hoiberg getting interviewed. First question was "is it OK not not push guys to win a game in December, is it ok to lose one?" His answer was that he would not go into a game and think its OK to lose, but there should be a plan in place to play your best ball in May / June. That being said, home court advantage is very important. Not a very satisfying answer. http://cbsloc.al/1Ie4mvA
