    Happy to oblige.

Gentry, Skiles and D'Antoni are just picks from the NBA head coaching recycling bin IMO. If you give them a great roster, they can probably win with it, but they add little value. Wait, I actually think that D'Antoni can make you worse if you have a defensive-minded team.

Donovan's won championships in college, but did little more than have a cup of coffee (364 mins) in the NBA. That cup of coffee might give him a slight edge in cred over guys like Calipari, Pitino and Carlesimo, but probably not. I think that cred can be VERY important for a new head coach.

Hoiberg's 4 years in the TWolves FO is a bonus. It's certainly not a requirement, but having a keen understanding of how your bosses think can be a real advantage. Having a partnership with your bosses is always preferable to an adversarial relationship.

If the coaches with NBA coaching experience can't really add value, what makes you think Fred can?

Donovan has been a more successful college coach, that's for sure.

Working in an office job might help. Then again, it might not. That's the only real differentiating factor I see you mentioning. Vinny Del Negro had that background as well.

I know that doing what the front office says was a big part of this hire. Fred needs the experience, so he'll oblige for a while at least.

Its hard to pin down even what it is. Previous NBA coaching experience doesn't matter. Winning national championships doesn't matter. Spending some time working in a NBA front office does and so does pleasing your bosses.

Phil Jackson had that last part down during his stint with the Bulls, right?

Hopefully he can do a good job and the team has the improved playoff success the front office thinks getting rid of Thibs will lead to.

He very clearly and plainly stated his POV. How did you miss it?

Winning national championships doesn't matter. (much)

It's in all the posts citing newspaper articles, video clips, and other media that have been posted since Thibs was asked to pack his bags and go.

Transplant's thoughts on Hoiberg's credentials vs those of guys like Donovan, D'Antoni and Gentry are in video clips and newspaper articles?

Do you have any thoughts of your own? (just wondering if you had anything of value to add, or is it just quips and emoticons)

Quips and emoticons (or this this case, just emoticons). Got it.
