When you say you "want better than" the top third is

When you say, you "want better from my team than JUST the top 3rd" - are we talking about SP ERA ?..... which is what this thread was addressing.

Of course I want the very best from my team in ALL aspects of the game.
I wouldn't mind one bit if the Yanks' SP lead the league in ERA.....is that what you're EXPECTING from this Yankee team?
If you are expecting "better" than the top 3rd, that means finishing either 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th amoung all A.L. teams in SP ERA.

Don't underrate finishing in the top 3rd (or very close to) in SP ERA.
That makes them one of the top five teams, (or very close to the 5th ranked team) would be acceptable...and as I said (FOR THE LAST TIME), along with the current scoring pace of this Yankee team, finishing in the top 3rd would - IMO - will be good enough for them to qualify for the postseason.....imo.


I hope you realize I'm taking into consideration the back end of the Yankee bullpen to supplement a "top 3rd" SP ERA.

At the time of this thread, the Yanks' SP ERA was 21 percentage points behind the 5th ranked team (Seattle) ...as I pointed out in post 4, sorry if you missed it.
Oh, by the way- the 5th best SP ERA is within the top 3rd in the league.
Just thought you needed to know.

Finishing in the top 3rd in league SP ERA, & one of the best run scoring teams gives the Yanks as good a chance as just about any other team to qualify for a playoff spot. Yanks are currently holding their own.
