And yet he grew in that next season. You don't think Mirotic, Snell and McDermott have reached their ceiling yet, do you?
From "should have beaten Lebron" to "get ready for a slide back" in one month. Smear/execution complete now the next step is to alter the expectations for the new guy. Step after that is to smear Rose if Team Rose acts out of turn. Contract is coming up and if they don't want to resign and Butler is the alpha then its time to finish the smear on Rose from a few years back. This roster isn't title worthy going forward as Gasol ages and Noah declines. Many thought Mirotic and McDermott were really being held back this season. One would think that once they are unleashed the NBA would tremble, but a slide back may happen. Its unknown if the new coach can be the magician that the previous one was and the talent may not be here.
The article presents a hypothetical (come up big or the Bulls may slide back some) and you present it as a fact (From "should have beaten Lebron" to "get ready for a slide back). Fascinating. Why did you transform it that way?
I was replying to transplant's post, not your post or the article. How did you think otherwise? As for the article, as players like Gasol and Noah age away and Dunleavy leaves town, guys like Snell, McDermott and Mirotic will take their place. It remains to be seen if these guys are actual NBA difference makers or are they just going to put up numbers on an average team. It also remains to be seen if anything Hoiberg did in the NCAA translates to the NBA. The rumblings of a "slide back" are already being heard, which is exactly what needs to happen in order for Hoiberg not to risk disappointment in his rookie campaign. Supposedly he's inheriting a situation where it was a fireable offense to not defeat Lebron James in a playoff series.
Getting the thoughts out there is a rumbling. Its also called "planting the seed." We'll be hearing plenty of this type of talk over the upcoming season.
