Its an off day so what the hell, lets take a trip down history lane,

DID YOU KNOW.......that since 1950 only 4 teams have led the league in wins 10 or more times?

National league = (3) Dodgers (12 times), Braves (11 times), & the Cardinals (11 times).

American league = (1) New York Yankees (26 times)

So one can say that since 1950, only 1 team has led the league in wins 13 more more times, 15 or more times, 20 or more times, and/or 25 or more times...

And since the 1994 strike season, finishing with the best record in MLB is usually the kiss of death.

And, in the past 20 yrs, only 7 tmes has the team with the best record in their league went on to win the WS, the 2013 Redsox , 2009 Yanks, 2007 Redsox (tie with Clev), 2005 Whitesox, '99 Yanks '98 Yanks and the '95 Braves.

Only the '13 Redsox (tie with STL), '09 Yanks, '07 Redsox (tie with Clev) and the '98 Yanks went on to win a WS having the best record in MLB. Four times in 20 yrs?

The '09 and '98 Yanks are the ONLY teams in the past 20 years to win a WS while having sole possession of the best record in MLB.

The '09 and '98 Yanks are also the only teams in the past 20 yrs, or since the strike season to win at least 100 games AND the WS.

    ?

So, chances are, according to the "odds", if the Cards continue and go on to have the best record in MLB, chances are they won't win the WS. Lmao

DID YOU KNOW.......that of all the players in the 3000 hit club that 4 of them never had a 200 hit season?

    Carl Yazstremski
    Eddie Murray
    Dave Winfield
    Ricky Henderson

DID YOU KNOW........that of all the pitchers with at least 250 wins Mike Mussina gave up the least amount of walks (785).

DID YOU KNOW........that only 4 players ever hit 250 home runs in 2 different decades?

    Barry Bonds 410 (1990s) & 327 (2000s)
    Sammy Sosa 332 (1990s) & 273 (2000s)
    Mickey Mantle 280 (1950s) & 256 (1960s)
    Willie Mays 250 (1950s) & 350 (1960s)

Mussina stat very impressive. And Mays and Mantle really show their separation from the pack especially the roiders.

You can see how Mays pulled away from Mantle in the '60s due to Mays' great consistent longevity and Mantle injury breakdown.

How about quirky single game accomplishments?
    5/29/15
Derek Norris struck out his first four times up and then hit a two out 9th inning walk off grand slam.

1-5, 4Ks,walk off grand slam. lol
    Never been done before.

We can see just how great a HR hitter Killebrew was in his day (1960s) as compared to the '50s and 70s and roiders who followed.

Killebrew also held a couple of impressive career HR records.
Most career HRs for a RH hitter- A.L. - since broken by Arod.
Most 40 HR seasons for a RH hitter....8, still quite impressive.
Just as many as Aaron, one less than Ruth.
