You know damn well that's extremely rare for players to do. That's their first huge pay day they hardly risk doing that and take the first huge payday they get from their team.

First of all this quote is wrong in cap numbers (they have the ability to get there but aren't yet) but...

I find it interesting that Bucher's sources indicated the Spurs aren't high on LMA's list.

Trying to fill the void soon to be left by Duncan would be pretty intimidating. At least with Dirk there's not a championship legacy looming overhead - it's mostly a lot of 1st/2nd round exits, which LMA is somewhat familiar with.

Dallas has one pretty much unspoken lobbyist in LA's camp in Kaleb Canales the assistant coach, also a local guy but I don't think that'll sway him anymore than the Mavs could contend if he went there.

You probably thought he was untouchable at one point.

    THAT'S how you do it.

My biggest problem with this article is that Dallas has their own FA's to resign.
    Will Ellis wait? Doubt it.
Tyson Chandler? Will Cuban be dumb enough to let Chandler get away again? As much as I dislike Cuban. I don't believe him to be a stupid business man.
Dallas has their own questionmarks imo.
    Can assume Rondo is gone.
If Dallas waits and Chandler/Ellis walk.
So that leaves them with who to put on the court that makes them a contender in the West?
    Parsons? Harris? JJ?

Plus lets not forget. Aldridge does not like banging with 270 pounders in the post.
Also I highly doubt Dirk can play the 3 defensively. Imagine how often he'd get burnt.
Let alone if offenses made him play pick and roll defense when his man is the other small forward...
30mins for Aldridge at the 4. Dirk has 18mins left there along with whatever minutes they can steal with one of them playing the 5?
If I'm Dallas I'm not going for Aldridge as a FA. I'm looking at other options.

Dallas has been rumored to not want to bring Ellis back for chemistry reasons. Ellis was the mavs best player last year too

Letting Ellis go would be foolish, he fits the team great when Rondo isn't playing.

I could see a team like Indiana picking him up and end up in the ecf or finals.

Ellis is the one with the option so he is going to be deciding if he wants to stay another year or try to get a bigger contract from another team.

According to the Dallas media as of yesterday, Ellis wants a raise but Cuban won't give him one unless he opts in. Ellis won't opt in unless he gets a raise. They are at a stale mate. Dallas wants him back. Ellis wants to get paid to come back.

That isn't even allowed with the CBA. The ONLY way for Ellis to get a raise this year is if he opts out. His options are either to opt in and play for his current contract, or opt out and test the market. Dallas just said that they would not pay him any more... which means Ellis would be onto a new team.
