Couple of interesting quips... Phil Jackson himself said NBA coaches are hired to be fired. Only the the truly legendary ones ever camp out in only one or two locations for their entire career. http://www.nba.com/bulls/news/samsmith/ask-sam-sam-smith-opens-his-mailbag-6.12.2015
I liked that answer a lot too, though I question how GS, with or without a ring, but having had Lebron lead a clinic in how to compete in the series they're in now - wouldn't be the favorites again.
Sam Smith is bought and paid for by the Chicago Bulls, yes? I love how the Bulls are always following the "model" of some championship team. The mediocre PaxSkiles Bulls were following the "Pistons model" according to some. Now its going to be the "Warriors model." And Fred Hoiberg somehow knows how to do all of this. We'll see..... Go git em Dougie!
IMO, this is too extreme. I think Smith still pretty much says what's on his mind. He's never had much of a pro or anti Bulls management agenda either during his newspaper days or in his current bulls.com gig. This said, it would be fair to say that if Cowley should find himself out of work, it's unlikely that bulls.com would be his soft landing place.
He should have just said, "if at first you don't succeed, keep on sucking maybe you will succeed." Bulls motto.
I think its sick how teams hire "journalists" and somehow they go about as regular journalists. The state of local media is bad enough without this type of situation going on. I agree that Sam is allowed to say "pretty much" what is on his mind. That's the problem though. Steady paychecks though.
If I wanted to know what the Thibodeau camp thought, yes, I took Cowley seriously. If I wanted to know how Forman thought, I took Johnson seriously. If I wanted the truth, I searched my heart.
