Well, it's foolish to compare LaMarcus Aldridge (a top15-20 player at his position) to Tim Duncan (the best to play his position).

It's like comparing Brandon Roy to Michael Jordan.

Well, you can call me foolish all day but I think you're blowing up the comparison's ..how do you get from a post saying basically you can build a contender around a power forward to...Brandon Roy is no Michael Jordan?

Because building around a power forward that isn't historically great is ludicrous. Look at all the teams that have won it all with a power forward as their main cog... Dallas have Dirk, an all time great that everyone will talk about for years after he retires. Boston had KG (among a lot of other great players, Pierce was probably top dog). Spurs have Duncan who at 39-40 is still better than most players.

If we are ever going to win a championship, Lillard will have to be the man. The team needs to be built around HIS strengths not LAs. I'm totally fine with LA being a Blazer but he needs to know his role, he is a natural Robin or third star like a Bosh.

Well, he needs to clippety-clop his goat ass up on the bridge and lay some smack down...

One guy doesn't win shit..hello Lebron..but teams do and a perfect example would be the Pistons with Sheed . I can't put historically great and currently playing in the same sentence either (although I just did).In our case, Dame is not the guy who makes the biggest difference currently. That guy is LA and he's still just in his prime. End of the day, LA is as good a power forward as you could hope for and has earned MY respect

You're correct one guy doesn't win by himself, teams do. But LA has had this be his team for about 5 years now, what do we have to show for it? A miracle shot by a young guard.

Dame is the biggest difference maker on this team, LA halts our offense to a stand still at times now (looking at you Stotts) when he goes ISO (which has happened way too much... Stotts..) .

I want to win just as bad as any Blazer fan, I just have no faith in an LA led Blazer team to win it all. Dame has to be top dog, LA needs to play downlow and set actual screens. LA needs to play the same way KG did for the Celtics (which with his skill set he can...). After that all we need is shooting and toughness and we will win a title.

It all comes down to LA accepting the role of Robin/Elite Hardhat player.

If LMA would agree to play Center for the most part I think we would have a significantly better chance to win with him, but we know the story on that

I saw the Blazers lose when LA was out with injury and Dame was leading and saw The Blazers win when LA was leading..I disagree with the Stotts, LA can't win line you're on here BDSfan...Duncan, your fav..hates to play center and we have guys to play the 5. I still say healthy this season we were contenders and after injuries devastated the lineup..a lot of folks found scapegoats to blame for it. If Lamarcus is so one dimensional..why do the best teams want to give him max deals tomorrow?

Dame wasn't the same after the fall in January against the Heat, plus the team isn't built for him to succeed. All teams have to do is trap because no one else could screen or ball handle. (Well, until CJ and Leonard got minutes...)

I didn't say we can't win WITH LA. I said we can't win with him being our best player. I also don't think Stotts is the coach to put us over, I'm tired of mediocrity.

LA doesn't HAVE to play center, I just wish he would play DOWNLOW like a true big man. He's not Dirk (prime...not current), he isn't money from the outside like his game suggests.

And teams throw max dollars at anyone, Chandler Parsons and Gordon Hayward got the max last summer IIRC.

LA had this be his team for about 5 years now,
This was BRoy's team up until 3 years ago or so.

someone winning a championship makes them an all time great, not the other way around. Rings always help a legacy so how can you say you can only win a championship with an all time great PF when those championships solidify their status as one? And you're saying we can only build a team around one guys strengths?... we should be buidling a good team with individual strengths that compliment one another well, and a system that utilizes the team's strengths to the fullest

That team was completely built around Webber. He was their #1 rebounder, best defender, and leading scorer. He did as much for the Kings as Aldridge currently does with the Blazers.

So if you don't believe the Kings weren't led by Webber, then Aldridge doesn't lead the Blazers
