Oden needs to do what Roy and all the guys should do after career threatening injuries. Take the money and shuffle off into the sunset
How could Oden have been so fragile? I can't believe all those experts couldn't figure it out. He must have had some kind of deficiency.
Bro!!! I was actually thinking the same thing. Like wtf?! Honestly no one saw it coming! I'm telling you it's the curse of drafting centers! Bill Walton gave us some voodoo! Evan sabas was victim and didn't even play in Portland until after all his injury issues
Paul Allen paid him $23M, so when Miami paid him $1M, that increased his lifelong wealth 4%. I'd look for another million bucks again if I were him. I haven't heard of any risk of permanently making himself worse.
I honestly think there's something genetically wrong w/the guy. I mean what 18 yr old looks like hes 40, and to add, 7 foot tall. Plus the Blazers fucked him over by making him bulk up so much, the guy needed to stay trim/cut and not add 30 lbs of muscle to his upper body. Then they decided to play him after he knocked knees w/that one dude which most definitively caused a patella micro-fracture just waiting to explode in the future (like it did). I'm also sure the alcohol didn't help the rehab; but from someone that has had ACL Surgery, Meniscus surgery, and a very, very small microfracture surgery, I can tell you after three years its still a little 'stiff', specifically the muscles around the joint. (and I work out 3-4 times a week + snowboard in the winter).
I agree. It's about time that he got back to the being-a-dentist plan. But with hands that size, perhaps horse dentistry.
Is that a euphemism for "signing with Minnesota"? Actually, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him show up in Cleveland.
http://basketball.realgm.com/wireta...Mavericks-Hornets-As-Part-Of-Free-Agent-Camps As Greg Oden attempts a return in the NBA, the former No. 1 overall pick worked out for the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday and will visit the Dallas Mavericks this week, league sources told RealGM. Oden will be part of the Mavericks’ free-agent mini-camp that includes wings and several big men, such as Keith Benson. The 7-foot Oden had worked out for the Memphis Grizzlies in the spring, and the franchise is expected to continue to monitor him. The first overall selection to the Portland Trail Blazers in 2007, Oden was considered a generational pro prospect capable of having a career arc similar to the NBA's all-time big men greats. He played with the Miami Heat last season, scoring 67 points and grabbing 54 rebounds in 23 games. Oden's close friend and former teammate, Mike Conley, spoke late this season about the possibility of Oden's comeback. Surely, Oden’s comfort level with the Grizzlies rises with Conley’s stature on the team. In averaging 15.7 points and 9.6 rebounds, Oden led Ohio State to the NCAA championship game in 2007 and had the base of a foundational player at the NBA level. Nevertheless, knee injuries provided constant setbacks. Oden, 27, has played two NBA seasons for Portland and one for Miami.
Truth is I don't care much, but I generally hate seeing potential wasted due to injury. Of course, if it's going to happen to someone, I'm glad it happens to a women abuser.
