If you are going to give up say, 2 first round picks for a old player like St. Louis. Not to mention Callahan.
Why not just offer a young, talented RFA a 5.4 to 7.3 contract and give up a 1st, 2nd and 3rd if he team doesn't match. At least you can keep the guy around long term and he's young. Essentially, Sather gave that up for Yandle. who probably will be gone after this year. If he's going to do that, throw away all those picks, at least do it with a RFA offer sheet. That player will help the team short and long term. If those deals won a cup, worth it, find a away to build up the farm again. However, as I've said 100 times the past 2 weeks. They didn't win crap.

I've always been pro RFA offer sheets. I think teams don't do that nearly enough. I have no problem giving up a high pick for a young, proven, NHL player. That's a smart move. Given up high picks for rentals and old guys is useless unless you win it all which they did not.

Don't get upset that you loved all the deals at the time dump and now think they were a failure because we didn't win a cup in 2015, the last season of the NYR/the NHL. A lot of people in here liked the deals, so you weren't alone in being wrong. I just wish I knew there was going to be no 2016 Rangers to try and win a cup, I would have gone to a few more games this past season.

Dump, what RFA's were/are out there that would be worth an offer sheet?

Plus that is a risky game. In the NHL not many teams make offers to RFA's and very few RFA's switch teams, at least the good ones worth adding don't.

If the Talbot trade does happen and does end up helping the team down the line that is a huge bonus for a guy i didn't even think would be a viable backup. Plus if Buch and Skjei earn spots in the next year or two that's a decent % of the team made up of farm talent. You aren't going to have a team completely homegrown.

At this point the horse isn't just dead, it's already been sent to the glue factory and little Johnny is using it for his arts and crafts projects.

The trades are over. No point in continuing the monday morning quarterbacking in every single thread, and now in a thread of its own. The question now should be what can be done to make this team better going forward.

What can they do going forward? They don't have the farm to be creative in trades any longer. Essentially, they are going to have to pray that there are a couple of moron GM's out there dumb enough to bail Sather out of his stupidity. Which I am not confident will happen give the fact the Rangers have been successful making the playoffs and a lot of teams haven't. They aren't going to jump for joy to help them out.

I can't remember if it was here or somewhere else that I read Minnesota and Detroit were in on Nash. Detroit has built their farm up again big time. They could legitimately acquire. him. If they brought something like Nyquist, Mantha and Sproul to the table it would surely be tempting. Mantha had a bad year but he's got a lot of talent and size. Sproul is a righty defenseman. Nyquist has been poor offensively in the playoffs. Essentially, you would make that deal on Mantha's, potential along with Sproul and a big salary dump. That would then allow you to keep Yandle if you wanted. It will also give you a glut of defenseman. If you were high enough on Sproul you could risk it and move Klein which I wouldn't but you never know.

When the trades were made you liked them all and didn't think it was stupidity from Sather, so why do you feel that way now dump? Is it simply because we didn't win the 2015 SC? What if we win the 2016 cup...still stupidity?

In addition, adding Hayes made up for a pick, we got a 2nd back in the Cally deal, we will also get a late 1st/early 2nd back for Cam to make up for another pick. And lastly you said AFTER the Yandle deal the farm was still strong...so why the 180 on all of this?

That is why I am confused by your stance. Just trying to understand what happened since you liked the Yandle deal in March to change your attitude on all the trades you liked? Simply not winning the 2015 SC...why can't we win the 2016 SC?

We are in our window now. Will we pay for dealing those late 1st round picks in 3 years...very possible, but I am focused on now and winning a cup within the next two seasons...I will worry about 3 years from now 3 years from now.

for fuck's sake Chuck, you say the same shit every single post to Dump. How many times does he have to give you the same answer for you to stop asking the same question? can we move on already?

Dump, that'd be a nice trade for Nash but as Datsyuk/Zett age they may want to retool and keep their young players rather than go for it with a Nash trade..

Because he has never answered the question. Its a legitimate question.

I think the biggest disconnect is some posters think we are not that close to winning the cup despite going to G7 of ECF. I happen to think we are close. Time will tell but not going to knock Sather for trades that everyone on this board liked at the time. I don't want to hear crap about losing Callahan btw, the fact we didn't resign him is good even though St Louis was an abortion in the playoffs

Thank you Dis. It is comical now. How about dump answer the f'ing question when he gets asked it by numerous people in here 31...and then he won't get asked anymore. I am not the only one who has asked dump the question, but he never answers...he just calls all of us idiots and Sather an idiot for making trades DUMP LOVED when they were made, and dump loved the system 3 months ago.

It is a joke 31, he starts thread after thread of this nonsense, and post after post of this nonsense, and instead of being the guy you usually are, and we all know what that means, how about dump get out of fantasy land and explain to everyone where the F he is coming from considering he did a 180 over the past 3 months and acts like he never did. I refuse to believe dump is that lost mentally that he cannot see how ridiculous his posts and threads are now.

How many times does he have to fucking answer the same thing?

"Again, people, learn to read. This has nothing to due with back tracking. It has to do with looking at the end results. In the end, unless you are a complete moron, the deals were a total failure. They didn't win the cup. Fact. Sather gave up way more than other GM's for relics and rental players in trades. Fact. The farm is very weak now. Fact. Those are the facts. So whether you liked the deals or not when they were made, the end result is that those deals now sucked. They didn't work."

He has said that MULTIPLE times, but we have Chuck ruining the board with posting the same shit in every fucking thread Dump posts in. Give it up already.

F you 31...you are a joke man. It is ridiculous to me that you come on here and curse away and go off on people and get away with it...and it isn't just me. You had it with cage, you had it with Al, you had it with others.

The one ruining the board is dump, and everyone here was fine when he was gone until you lured him back. Thread after thread of his nonsense.

So I love the Yandle trade...Yandle is a difference maker...the farm is still good after the Yandle deal despite what the idiots at HOF say...NO ONE on these boards wanted Nash more and NO ONE on these boards loved the Nash deal more...now we lose game 7 of the ECF and it is all awful and look at the end results....BS.

That is a joke 31, and the fact that you play into the nonsense tells us all we need to know about you. Is the NHL shutdown now after 2015? Will the Rangers not field a team in 2016? Why is it all over because we didn't win a cup in 2015? Was that the only year we could win a cup with this core?

How about dump answer some of those questions rather than starting thread after thread calling everyone idiots.

    Enough with your BS 31...

I am with you Dis. Clearly we can win a cup still. We are 2nd fav in Vegas right now for 2016. We are not far off and just need a few tweaks here and there. A R shot top 9 winger being one of them.

It is laughable that someone can say 3 months ago I love it and great system, and now can start thread after thread and have post after post calling everyone an idiot for being on board with the same thing he was on board with 3 months ago.

I am 100% with you on this Dis.

And for the record, if he came on here and said he was wrong and was humble about it instead of calling everyone an idiot I don't think anyone would have an issue with dump. We may disagree, but no one would be like WTF. But we are because his posts are over the top calling people idiots when he himself was on board with every single move.

And as Prod said...enough. Stop calling everyone an idiot and let's move forward and try and win next season. What is the point of this thread as Prod said.

It is crazy man...like we are living in an alternate universe...LOL.

How about you stop trolling of the board with the SAME QUESTION EVERY THREAD DUMP APPEARS IN. Every single one of them.

He has already said REPEATEDLY that he is not looking back at history on who said what then, but at the END RESULT. How is that so difficult for you to understand so we can move forward without you trolling every thread with the same garbage?

Just this thread Prod tried to post a discussion topic about how we can improve the team going forward, to which Dump responded with a hypothetical thread with the Wings that i tried to further discuss by pointing out the state of their team, but of course, troll Chuck comes over with the same bullshit question.

The only "nonsense" i'm playing into is trying to move our discussions forward into something else, but idiots like you keep trolling every thread with the same question every....single....time

How about dump answers the question and stops calling everyone an idiot.

If he is making sense and answering the question how come he is battling with Al also on the same topic? How come Prod says what is the point of another thread like this dump? And how come Dis says he hasn't answered the question?

    But it is me 31...LOL.

You know what though, I am done 31. I won't ask him the question anymore. We'll all just sit back and let him call everyone an idiot in post after post and thread after thread, for liking the trades he was on board with as well. I will do that for you.

Moving on from this ridiculous topic. This is what happens when we don't have actual events to discuss...:).
