Capspace that isnt that big of a deal when wev got the cap hits wev got. Plus who in free agency can we get. The top two SF Middleton/Caroll are both not as good as Batum and both are going to get bigger contracts then Batum got.
This summer's free agency sucks. Cap space this summer is meaningless. NEXT summer is when I'd want to have cap space.
Not true. Adding the 8 mil free from the Batum contract - the #4 salary guarantee is a huge difference. We would be able to retain Matthews, Lopez and Aldridge while offering a max contract to someone else.
If we could trade batum and our pick for #4, I'd like to see us draft Winslow and then sign DeAndre. That makes us a better team IMO
The worry with me is Batum is going to get his big contract next summer, and turn into Hedo after he got paid by Toronto.
So you're admitting he didn't disappear in this year's playoffs? And he looks fine in the Houston series... So I'm wondering where these perpetual disappearances happen.
His playoff averages are 10 4 5 and shooting below his percentages across the board. Not to mention he refuses to post up players that are literally half a foot shorter than him and exploit mismatches. But please, keep defending him. http://m.bkref.com/m?p=XXplayersXXbXXbatumni01.html&t=11 Check out that PER though, dang homie he is so good in the playoffs. Knock off your non sense defending his play in the playoffs. Also for reference here is his regular season:http://m.bkref.com/m?p=XXplayersXXbXXbatumni01.html&t=4 So, he isn't significantly worse in the playoffs, huh? Facts buddy.
Sure take the player who is a worse defender, rebounder, passer, ball handler. Middleton is younger and is a better 3p shooter but much worse from inside the arc.
Middleton is a worse defender than Batum? Middleton might be one of the best defenders in the league lmao With that said, I'm not sure I'd take Middleton over Batum with the contract he is most likely about to get.. but 3 and D is exactly what we need.
I don't really get the whole trade Batum thing, at least if Olshey plans to return LA, RoLo and Wes. Yeah, he had a down season last year, but at least a major part of that was due to the wrist injury. Injuries can happen to any player. He says he's going to get more rest this summer, so I don't see any reason not to expect him to return to form. And the form that he offers fits so well with the rest of the core. Dame and LA are the main scorers, with Wes adding punch and wanting a bigger role. RoLo is a rebounder/defensive stopper. Having a SF who is a facilitator just works so well with that unit. Bring in another guy who's looking to rack up big scoring stats and things are going to get ugly fast. Now, if you want to bring in a young stud wing player through the draft or trade who could be an understudy and maybe push Nic out the door in a few years, I'm down with that idea. But dumping Nic just to move up in the draft and get a guy who maybe will be a big asset in a few years, that's just dumb unless the plan is to blow things up and reload for a run in a few years. I don't get the sense that's what Olshey was brought here to do.
And even IF LMA leaves this summer (fingers crossed!) I would still wait until the deadline before trading Nic. Let him play until the deadline, increase his value, and then trade him to a team that's contending and just needs that one piece to really cement their run. He'll be worth more in that scenario.
HE himself said he needed to add a post up game for that reason, "lol..." and said he had to get stronger. Please inform yourself before replying to my posts.
I know he said that. But if Stotts said, "Nic, post up!" I'm fairly certain he would not "refuse." Please inform yourself of actual word meanings before posting in the first place.
