Last year we didn't have a pick and Noah was projected to go top-5 - Neil interviewed him in Vegas. Like he did with Kristaps.
I like this. Vonleh needs some seasoning, but he is a very good rebounder, has good size, plays both ways, can shoot out the the 3pt line and is very young. If you want a young prospect for Nic, then I think he is as good as anyone in this draft. Maybe should be considered a top 5 guy this year. Very good for the team's future.
You can add him to the core of Dame/CJ/Meyers if we have to rebuild. It just seems like he and Meyers are the same kind of player and play the same position
I don't think he's like Meyers at all, they could complement each other nicely if this means LM is gone
As a lifelong Hoosier fan who closely followed Vonleh's recruitment and freshman season, I'll say that I am extremely pleased with the addition of Vonleh. He's a bright kid who plays within himself and has all the tools and skills to develop. His ceiling is higher than what we've seen Batum ultimately peak at. He put on 30 lbs over the summer before his freshman season as he entered their weight program, though I can't speak to his level of effort with Charlotte, I can say that he was a good student in HS and likely enough will progress because he will put in the effort.
I wouldn't count on Vonleh being a contributor right away. If he gets 15 MPG, it would be proper development minutes. The kid is only 20. Guys that young rarely are NBA ready right away. Except LeBron.
