$11.875m in space, already taking into account the Staal and Zucc raises.

You can already pencil in Stepan for roughly 3m more, so lets say $8.8m in space to fill out the roster.

EDIT: Wait, that's not right....I need to account for Stepan's FULL hit, not jus this raise.

So in reality with Stepan it's about 5.8 million in space, with still Hags, Fast and Miller left to sign, let alone any improvements to be made.

Now you see why I think Klein needs to go...

Thank makes no sense. You don't get rid of one of your top 4 defenseman who is cheap. Klein doesn't make much and he's a righty. You use Talbot to dump Glass. Those 2 combined make what Klein does. If you want to dump a salary, time to look at Hagelin if you are thinking about signing Yandle. Me, I'd move Yandle if I wasn't 100% sure I was signing him.

Yandle has a low salary.. I see what you mean though Dump. You can get a good return for him.. I also think they have a good chance of resigning him

Sather has to unscrew the massive damage he did by overpaying in 2 deals which ultimately were a complete failure. Let's hope Edmonton, Calgary, San Jose or Buffalo is reallllllly stupid with Talbot.

EDM or SJ are the most likely to overpay, but especially EDM, since both are dumb teams. but again, especially EDM. That said, don't they have a new GM? so maybe he can be competent in the position.

Ok sounds good, we'll keep Klein and McIlrath will just continue to hang out in Hartford or possibly rock a big & tall suit and watch from the skybox.

Why? Put Boyle in the stands. Pretty simple. Tell him he's not playing, accept a trade and then eat half his contract to make it happen.

Ideally, yes. But I dont see this happening at all. He's not waiving his NTC. AV will never bench him. A buyout is possible as we discussed before, but unlikely.

AV has him in the cards... He wasn't bad in the playoffs.. 10pts... Just isn't the PP QB they hoped for

EDM said they would give the 16th pick for a Dman but not a goalie... Lol, the last good goalie they had was Dwayne Roloson

They need to address D first and foremost (the Oil), then a goalie. To win competitive in the NHL you don't need an elite goalie, but you sure as heck need a good defense.

Talbot is very unproven and carries significant risk with him. In EDM he would no longer be playing for the 3rd best defense in the entire league so he could easily get exposed.

I saw today an unnamed team offered 2 2nds for Talbot which i would take. Why would EDM give 16 for a pending ufa in Talbot Struds?

Because they need a goalie and they can resign him after Jan. 1st

I would not take that. Like I said, the deals Sather should have been making all along are for the future and now. He needs to get a piece now. If it is Buffalo, I ask for Grigorenko and picks.

He also needs to be careful. There are a lot of other options at goalie. He has to make sure not to piss off the other GM's so they say screw it and go for somebody else.

Ottawa has apparently said Anderson is available, so that's another option for teams to trade for. My only concern with Grigirenko is that there has to be a contract in place or an agreement he'll sign here or else we just traded Talbot for two second rounders and nothing for the now movement.

If they could swing Grigorenko and even a high 3rd i'd take it. I doubt you'd get a 2nd from them with Grig being a highly rated prospect.

From everything I've read buffalo management is not high on grigorenko in fact quite the opposite and I think he could be gotten by some team rather easily
