How much of a factor was Nic's insistence on playing with the French National Team every summer in the trade? I know Neil hated it, just wondering if you know whether that was one of the straws that broke this camel's back or if it was something that the team would've been willing to ultimately put up with?
I don't think they traded Nic because he plays for the French National Team. Last year was the first time that it really had an adverse effect on his NBA performance. I just think that after 7 seasons, it was time to try something else.
When can teams begin to make qualifying offers to free agents? Or if they can already, when is the last day they can make one?
I'm not sure, though I don't think the Blazers have any players they could extend qualifying offers to. Teams can sign free agents starting July 8th or 9th (I can't remember exactly)
I think he could if he wanted to, but I'm guessing Steve is going to spend a lot of time with his family rather than getting into coaching any time soon.
Do we need a better backup PG than Steve Blake? He seemed to fall off as the season went on (and in the playoffs) last year. I like Tim Frazier but he is probably best suited as 3rd string for at least one more year due to his inexperience and height.
That's going to do it for me. I'll try to check back in later on in the day or during the draft. Thanks everybody, take care.
That's what I thought. So we can still make the QO to Freeland, right? Wasn't there another player on our roster in the same boat?
The Blazers have until June 30th to extend a QO to Freeland and make him a RFA, otherwise he becomes unrestricted.
Well, now that OKC has acquired Luke Ridnour, maybe Russell Westbrick is available. J/K, I don't want that ball hogging turnover machine anywhere near my team. And, that makes THREE times in less than 24 hours Ridnour has been traded: from the Magic to the Grizzlies, the Grizzlies to the Hornets and now the Hornets to the Thunder. Matt Barnes has also been traded twice since the season ended: from the Clippers to the Hornets and then the Hornets to the Grizzlies. Man, the Hornets have been active, but have they gotten any better? So far, most of their moves look like rearranging the deck chairs on teh Titanic. BNM
