Yeah, Wilcox stepped on it. It was pretty bad looking. Basically his foot was at a 90 degree angle with his lower leg. However, they are saying they will reevaluate it tomorrow. It is not a break, and it might not be as bad as it looks. I'm hoping he'll be back at least by the end of the year. Not to rush it, but there's some big games coming up.
I doubt its very serious. Dirk hasnt had a major injury ever. Even that injury back in the Spurs series of 03, it wasnt too serious. He could of actually played in the following games, but they just didnt want to make it worse. I'm like Justice on it and hope he's back by the end of the year. I think we can pretty much stay afloat while Dirk is down. Hopefully Damp, Devin, Howard, and Terry step up some while he's away. I'm sure they will. Wonder how Avery is going to play this. C-DampF-CroshereF-HowardG-TerryG-HarrisC-DampF-GeorgeF-HowardG-TerryG-HarrisC-DampF-HowardF-StackhouseG-TerryG-HarrisI'm banking on the George lineup. Wouldnt have a great spark off the bench with Stack in the starting lineup. George plays well with that lineup as well. He's been the best signing of the offseason in my opinion And when I mean the best signing, I dont mean on a league level, but on a team level.
Yeah I like George at the power forward as well. It spaces out the floor along with George being solid on defense. Croshere has been a disappointment since he does nothing but sit at the 3 point line. It's good for spacing but that's all he does.
They said it's negative and the trainer said it's not swelling and if it isn't tomorrow he'll be good to go. I expect him to play Friday.
^ thats good news, Hopefully he'll be back by then.If he's out for a longer period of time, I definetely agree with the George Lineup. He has been playing really well for us this year and has fit in nicely. We would be fine with George at the PF if Dirk is out for a longer period of time.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Mavs lose Dirk, beat Sonics03:02 AM CST on Thursday, December 21, 2006By EDDIE SEFKO / The Dallas Morning NewsSEATTLE ? Like always, Dirk Nowitzki feared the worst when he went down late in the first quarter, clutching his left ankle. The Mavericks? star has had his share of ankle problems in the past and while none of them have been the kind that knock him out long term, that doesn?t mean they don?t hurt like the dickens. This one was no different."It was kind of a freaky play," Nowitzki said after the Mavericks' 103-95 win over the Seattle SuperSonics at KeyArena. "The dude (Sonics' forward Chris Wilcox) kind of lost balance in the air, and I was trying to run back. And he kicked right in my ankle, and I rolled it pretty good. At first, it scares you. It was pretty sore there when it happened, but it?s all right now.""Looking at it now, I?m already pretty good. I?ve rolled it so much now, that I don?t really get much swelling. I?m hopeful for Friday (against the Los Angeles Clippers). Definitely after Christmas, but I?m hoping for Friday."Nowitzki went down with 2:05 left in the first quarter. He got tangled up with Seattle?s Chris Wilcox, who appeared to step on Nowitzki?s foot and turn his ankle outwardly while Nowitzki was falling to the floor.</div>http://www.wfaa.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/...g.2cebd92e.htmlSounds good.
Wow that is terrific news. It looked a lot worse than that. People were thinking it was a broken ankle on dallas-mavs.com.

Then again, I was watching the local broadcast and not the ESPN showing. Thankfully. It wasn't as bad as it looked, because although he had it at a bad angle, it was mostly just his own force on it. Wilcox stepped on his foot and not into his ankle. If Wilcox had slammed into Dirk's ankle, it would have been shattered and his year would be over or mostly over, I'd bet.
