maybe its just how out of tune I am. But I don't have the same vitriol towards Aldridge as a lot in here. Its not like the dude didn't earn the right to go where he wants. I wish him well, except when it hurts us.

This is actually a bad idea. They would get him for cheaper because he is a RFA and we can't give him the raises (or the years) that they can outright. Kawhi camp would probably turn down offers from other teams. But at the same time we want to make sure they do have to sign him. Because if he plays out the year under his old contract then they would have a lot more room under the cap.

To build on a couple of other things I have read in here. The moment they knew that he wasn't interested in signing was about 7 days before the draft. That would have been plenty of time to work a deal with Cleveland which would have brought back something and maybe Wiggins in return. Now we have...this. But we continue to blindly 'trust Neil Olshey'.

I'm not one to put too much stock in rumors, even from well-placed sources. That said, I think Wesley Matthews' body language at his post-season interview was pretty indicative that there was little chance of bringing back the same core as last season. Pretty much Wes's Achilles popping was the sound of that incarnation of the team passing away. A deep playoff run might have put new life into the team and encouraged management and players to keep it going. As it happened, his injury was just one more in a long list of things that have gone bad in Rip City. I'm not happy if LA decides he wants to get somewhere else, but I can understand his motivation.

Can't say it wasn't unexpected. Hope Olshey has something up his sleeve. If the team can't even sign it'd big name FA then what chance does it have.

Ahhh good point. I was focused on it making them have to front load and pump out a massive amount of cash only July 9th as a bonus. But he'd lose the highest max. Balls.

I got SO MUCH flak for suggesting that very thing back then or even the year before when some of the very same issues were coming up for LA. There are a number of factors and it's not all team related. This was always very much a possibility from what I've been told repeatedly but to suggest such was considered heresy. I continue to trust the sources I still have. Not as many as a few years ago but they remain spot on.

I see some positives in turning the page an moving on. The one major one is getting away from the Iso offense altogether, build a balanced team that moves the ball and attacks the rim.

So assuming this is true, how much money would they have to work with if they give up the rights to him, Wes, and Rolo? They could still go after a guy like Butler and DeAndre.

I mean what happened there? Yet, we continue to 'trust Neil Olshey'.

The ball did 'stick' when it got to LA in the post. He wasn't a very good passer out of the post and terrible when double-teamed. His inability to put the ball on the floor without it being a 50% chance of being a TO didn't help either. Incredible shooter for a big man and great hands down low on defense. He'll be missed but he would be missed a lot more if he'd actually led us to some playoff success.
