http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/bask...jury/index.html <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Paul Pierce is expected to miss at least three weeks with a stress reaction in his left foot, the Celtics announced Thursday. The five-time All-Star hurt the foot last week against Denver and aggravated the injury Wednesday against Golden State in a game the Celtics lost 96-95 after Pierce was unable to get off a shot on the last possession. Pierce ranks 10th in the league in scoring at 26.6 points a game. He also is averaging 7.4 rebounds and a team-leading 4.3 assists. The Celtics play host to Philadelphia on Friday before leaving for a five-game Western trip.</div> F*ck ME! We are absolutely screwed with injuries man, wow. Just wow. Pierce, Wally, Perk, Ratliff, Kandi-Man all out right now. We are absolutely F*cked, man. I wouldn't be surprised if we lost every game on the 5 game West Coast road trip after Christmas. So, does this mean Gerald Green starts? Or does this mean Doc goes incredibly small and starts Delonte at SG and TA at the 3 (which would open up major minutes for Rondo). All I know is that these young guys need to step up BIG TIME, this injury couldn't come at a worse time. Gerald Green gets his big shot now, to really step up and show what he has. This will also allow us to learn how Big Al can really handle the pressure of handling double teams while being the #1 option. These next 3 weeks are going to be hell without Pierce, but kind of interesting (which young guys will step up?). I say start Gerald Green and have a Rondo-West backcourt off the bench. EDIT: Topics merged.
Yes! :worthy: I may be a total ***hole for being happy about this, but this will give the Raps a better shot at winning the division. The Celtics are nothing without Pierce.
Nets are coming around now, they proved it last night with a win over the Cavs. You never know with New Jersey, they always start out the season lackadaisically but then midway through season they go crazy with all kinds of winning streaks.
Motherf*cker. What a f*cking huge hit to take right now... I really hope they start Green and let him show his stuff...

Not only do we have Pierce out for 3+ weeks, we also have Wally Szczerbiak out with a sprained ankle (2 weeks after spraining his other ankle), Kendrick Perkins out with plantar fasciitis, Theo Ratliff possibly out for season with his lower back pains, Brian Scalabrine with the flu, and Michael Olowokandi trying to return on Friday (strained abdomen). PLUS Ryan Gomes just came back, and Delonte West had early season injuries. Oh well, you guys were never going anywhere anyway. At least now Doc has no excuse, but to give Gerald Green heavier play time and of course your chances at Oden just increased.

Knowing Pierce, he'll come back sooner than expected anyway.
God damn it, right when we were making strides in the right direction. Should have seen this coming, knowing our luck. :Swoon:Gerald, here's your chance.
Boy, like you guys said, this is G's chance. He needs to take this and run. He needs to keep his head up if he makes a mistake and continue to play his game. Awkward sounding, since Pierce isn't playing, but I can't wait to see Gerald play on Friday night.
Ouch, on realgm they say he'll be out at least THREE weeks. Maybe it doesn't make much of a difference and whatever, but I'd just thought I'd point that out.

horrible horrible luckC's get on a roll, just miss 6 in a row, now they have to play without Pierce. This is gonna hurt.He makes it so much easier for everyone on the court and they're gonna miss that.who demands a double team now?well hopefully Doc give some mins to the younger guys (who aren't getting PT, I mean 9 of the 15 players have 2 or less years experience) to see what they can do.

I heard from more than one place that it would be at least 3 weeks, it could possibly be 4. But knowing Pierce, he'll be back in 2 and a half lol. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>who demands a double team now?</div> I see the only guy on our team getting doubled at times will be Big Al. Nobody else will.
This may be Gerald's chance PT-wise, but right now, Al is going to be our #1 option. This is make-or-break for him. Thank God he's playing well right now. and healthy.
I saw him after the game downtown and he was limping, I knew it wasn't good. Sucks, but at least it'll make it a game with Philly tonight.
