With Leonard and Plumlee, he's not worth it

Max money deals signed this year may evolve under the new cap. I was listening to something the other day where that had been a big research focus for agents this year - how to write contracts so that max contracts signed this year adjust to max under the new figures of next offseason. It's happening. So, we supposedly should not expect a lot of max guys signing one-year deals this offseason to try to hit free agency next offseason. In fact, some agents feel that move will backfire.

If I was LA's agent I wouldn't suggest it to him.

I don't know if I can stomach another year of "Aldridge is leaving" bullshit.

    Jeremy Lin is a UFA.

He might be a pretty good fit next to Lillard, and you get a playmaker to fill the void left by the Batum trade.

    Go after Leonard.

SA has shown they always shortchange their stars "for the good of the team" and they are nothing but scrubs and cripples who will be gone over the next 4-5 years, including Popovich. Why on earth would he turn down a better offer on a younger team? Offers can be structured in such a way as to prevent the other team from wanting to match. I seem to recall PA did that so successfully once that David Stern took him to court over it, and lost.

I personally don't think he will do that...Nor will the Blazers put themselves in this same position next year. Unless they think one more year will get the long term commitment from him.

I actually like the idea of having Lin on the bench..out market would grow overnight by half a billion fans and he is better than Blake. He'd be a fan favorite in the Northwest

You do know that the Spurs can and will match any offer to him.

This. They did overpay to keep Splitter, so why wouldn't they do something for the better player in Leonard?

I like his game. Good character, unselfish, high BBIQ and under Stotts, he'd be in a system that fits his skills

Lamarcus has mentioned several times how aware he is of injury risk and what it takes to have a long career. He's played with BRoy, Oden and now Wes and watched worst case scenarios over and over

Which is why I don't think he will do that. This is his moment right now

He can buy an insurance policy to mitigate the risk of injury.

We still have no idea what Neil is building. Personally, I think he's going to try to use his $$ for a "moves-the-needle" player in order to retain LMA. We'll see.

    What we do know:
He's made a couple of "value deals" that have gotten us younger AND have saved cap space. PDX does not have a history of luring high profile FAs.

Or sign a max deal before he's on the wrong side of 35 and have the team insure him
