Well yeah. It was a risk to begin, but now.... No point. Just clarifying cuz I don't think everyone is up to speed with the landscape. For a while, signing the one-year deal seemed like a potentially wise move.

Okay this comment I read over and over again doesn't make much sense to me. The most cap space we had in the last 20 years has been 9 mil. And that's when we needed players (getting Lopez, t rob etc). Wait scratch that, we had enough to max Hibbert and he accepted but was matched.

The time before that, we had 7 mil, which we did get a solid free agent in Miller.

This will be the only summer I can remember where we had significant cap space. I guess we will see if we can lure a free agent.

I won't be surprised to see a run at Monroe. We had a run last year, but Detroit wouldn't engage. I could see Monroe and a solid SF, then Olshey asks LA to saddle up.

Well, Miller was probably our 5th or 6th choice. And I don't think he had a ton of people knocking his door down...It was us.

But...Not being on D Jordan's list doesn't break my heart.

I know a lot of you are high on him but I wouldn't throw a lot of money out on Monroe.

I wonder if it would even get out if we were. It's kind of interesting how Portland is about to have the most cap space in the league, yet they haven't really been connected to any free agents outside of maybe Love.

I'm not high or low on him. It's a lot of meh. I'm just telling you I wouldn't be surprised. End of the day, acquire assets and go from there.

I will wax profane to put it into perspective for you:
Last year we couldn't even get a fucking crappy FA center because he listened to his 11-year-old self.

    Neil said it was untrue.

But there are several ways to build your team if LA was to leave. One is signing one out right. Another way is to make a lopsided trade someone. He has avenues to improve. He doesn't have recruit and get someone's commitment.

I'll believe Love has any interest in being here when he's been here in PDX for 5 years.

Funny how the media says we've never brought in a big FA besides Miller. Brian Grant was the biggest FA the year we signed him, and we had a low chance of signing him until we did. BG was by no means a superstar, but he was a solid talent in weak pool with several team willing to overpay. I thought that was a win for Portland, in the moment, over 5 years, and ultimately today. BG is part of the current fabric.

But...But...But remember who it was that signed him. One of the best salesman this organization ever saw in Trader Bob.

I still wonder where he is and why we never brought him back. Nobody cares about the indiscretions when we were winning. But shitty on and off the court became unacceptable.

I know not many of you liked him but I would have never gotten rid him. I would have told him to go take a long vacation and clear your head. And be prepared to come back and run your business differently

He just had to many important skills. He was a very valuable man. The skills that you saw out of Larry Miller, KP and Tom Penn or Chris McGowan and Neil. That was Bob wrapped in one. He could have adusted his philosophy to fit that in way Allen wanted to go. He had good recruiters, a good scouting team. H

I wouldn't be surprised at a run at Rudy Gay.
