A realistic scenario if Aldridge and Matthews both are gone.

I hate the tanking way of thinking...no balls, no dignity in losing on purpose in front of a fanbase like Portland has. I don't care how clever it sound to do it..it sucks. Want it out of the game.

I know they are just rumors, but the rumors seem to all indicate that Monroe is headed for NY.

The prevailing thinking is that Hibbert is only a good idea if LMA comes back, but I wonder if his presence might help Leonard and Vonleh. And With CJ and Dame getting big minutes at guards it would be nice to have a big guy sitting back there protecting the rim.

So if we are talking realistic possibilities, .......Hibbert is realistic. He gets no choice where he is traded to. It would be a salary dump for Indiana. No assets in return. So even if it was for one year, we still would have his cap space next year if he elected to move on, so it would not hurt our rebuilding process. And lets face it if LMA leaves we are rebuilding.

So....... you are agreeing with me? As the video points out the issues were internal. He was the runner up as D player of the year, and then "something" happened, and the team fell apart. Sounds like he is worth the gamble if it is just money for one year.

And yet he was still third in the entire league in 2014/15 at FG% defense at the rim. 40.4% opponents shoot at the rim when he was in the game.

And let's make sure to note that he was blooming into a great center, averaging 12 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks per game before his best friend, Paul George, slept with his fiancé.

15 mil to kick the tires and see if he can be that same player is low risk, high reward. If he doesn't work out, you can either sign him for cheap or let him go and have an additional 15 mil in cap next summer.

Whole lotta Knicks fans are lobbying for Wes to be a Knick with Melo next season. Was reading some comments about their draft and there was a lot more Wes talk than anybody else.

1 offer Kawi Leonard crazy money that make the Spurs think about it. Make the Spurs pay. That will buy the Lakers time to sign LaMarcus. Make Cleveland play up and sign Tristan Thompson to an offer sheet. Tristan is Lebrons guy then we have more $ love won't turn down. Kevin love will then have to choose Cleveland Boston or Portland. Best chance we got to save this franchise is to make Kawi the highest paid player in the league.

What is crazy money? Can someone offer anyone more than the max? I like this idea if possible. He would fit in perfectly with the other young players. I just don't think it is possible.

Depends on what Spurs are trying to do. I know last season they tried convincing Leonard to take less for the good of the team. He respectively declined. If they try pulling that shit again, Kwahi may sign the offer sheets given.

While realistic compared to some hair brain ideas around here it goes to show how screwed we are if we lose LA and/or Matthews.

1LA is gone 2 Wes is out of his mind 15 mill per year if LA is gone that's more reason to not sign Wes. Don't like the tank idea Dame will just leave too. Next years draft is nowhere near as good as this years. Love is the key he will put up timberwolve numbers here on a Portland playoff team. Good enough for Dame to sign a max deal. Dame and Love and future developing bigs + CJ is the perfect realistic plan with LA and Wes gone. Wes can easily be replace with a combination of GHenderson and a half the price Danny Green.

Next years free agent class is epically better than this years.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Tanking and rebuilding around cap space makes sense for Miami and Los Angeles and (theoretically, if they have good management) New York--destination franchises, largely due to the cities they reside in. Portland isn't ever going to pull in the A-class free agents, so building a plan around having the cap space to compete for Kevin Durant's services isn't reasonable. If Portland lost Aldridge but pulled in Millsap and Carroll, that would be quite a solid reload. Neither player is Aldridge, obviously, but Millsap has been one of the more underrated players in the NBA during his career...a tremendous two-way player. And Carroll is a very nice three-and-D option.

Plumlee would make a good Lopez replacement and you hope that Vonleh can eventually develop into a secondary star or, at least, a good two-way player...someone who can provide rim protection, rebounding and three-point shooting, with some explosiveness out of the pick-and-roll.

Thank you Minstrel, you echoed my thoughts exactly, I looked through the list of unrestricted free agents that fit a need if Aldridge and Matthews leave and came up with Millsap and Carroll as targets. You are correct Portland will most likely not get any A-Class free agents, and it is highly likely that they would not get any restricted free agents.

Next year's draft is crap. We traded next year's pick last year instead of this year's for a reason.

Next year draft class not next years free agent class but somebody mentioned were going to have one of the most cap space this year and the only big named free agent mentioned linked to us is Kevin Love. Even if we get to next years free agent class with cap space we still won't see any realistic big named free agents linked to us. Plan A Kevin Love and Kris Middleton Plan B Milsap for a couple of years only (because our future PF is Vonleh) and Middleton/Carroll. ATL Hawks did it with the right depth set of role players in the right system.
