As of today, 6/28/15, Gardy is the first .300 hitter on this Yankee team. I honestly did not think any Yankee would achieve .300 or higher. Now, if he only can keep it going until the end of the season. He sure is hot.
It is nice to see a Yankee with a respectable batting average. He'll even McCann's is on the rise. Drew still needs to go, he's just pathetic.
Considering it seems like we were just discussing that nobody was over .270 it's good news. Gardner, Young, Arod and McCann have all hit very well and raised their averages.
for the past few years gardner has been one of the most consistent offensive threats on team, still think we could have gotten something better for the TEAM then what he provides in a trade..... and trooffully, if this kid WAS a threat on the base paths, this post would not have never been seen
I've gotten on Gardner in the past but he's earning his money. Unlike the contract they gave Headley for his mediocrity.
Yes, I agree he's got the tools to swipe 50/yr, but not the instincts....waits too long into the AB to go. Being on 1st with Jeter at bat didn't do much to hone those instincts either. Not a knock on Jete, just a team priority for so many years to never take the bat out of his hands. Base stealers need a selfish gene (aka the Ricky gene), I'm not seeing that in Brett's DNA. Ellsbury...yes, Gardner only sometimes, and more so around Jacoby.
...all of the really good base stealers I've ever seen had a certain "attitude" when on base. And they would rattle most pitchers. And the batter would also know that he's a lot more likely to get a FB.
