I believe he said the Rangers looked like a playoff bubble team. Had no third line. A whole bunch of other nonsense. They lost a relic who couldn't play any longer and a 15 goal role player. They added a young kid with 30 goal potential. The world is not ending Larry. Plus, the dumbass is already labeling the team before July. It's June, Larry. Do everybody a favor. Retire. When you get to the point when you do no research on other teams players and have no clue about your teams own players, it's time to move to the south and watch grass grow.

    Zucc-Brassard-Nash
    Kreider-Stepan-Etem
    Miller-Hayes-Fast
    Hrvik-Moore-Lindberg

I guess he didn't watch Hayes, Miller or Fast play last year. That is a third line a lot of teams would kill to have. The team still has one more move to go forward wise. I think they would rather have Fast on the 4th line and a vet on that third line.

I think you are way reaching with 30 goal potential for Etem. And I think if those are our lines we are a playoff bubble team. BUT I don't think those will be our lines. And I agree we have not lost anything major, and Brooks is over the top because no shot we are done and we will add a top 6 winger for sure IMO.

Assuming we add the winger we need, no shot we can live with Etem and Fast both in the top 9, need to bump each down a line, I think we could be a better playoff team next season than this season, and that's all that matters.

So yeah Brooks is over the top...assuming we are not done adding forwards of course.

Sather will be a genius if he can find a taker for Boyle and convince him to move. If he can do that, he's a magician. I hope Sather learned his lesson with Boyle and a few other guys. No more freakin NTC or NMC clauses. They are stupid and they hurt the team.

I think it was telling that AV wasn't at the draft and Hagelin was dealt who is a favorite of AV. I expect Glass to be the next guy sent out of town.

I just read the article, and Brooks is over the top for sure because this is not a finished product. These moves created the ability to add the winger we need. I see no shot at all we are done by simply resigning our RFA's. We will add another winger I 100% believe that for sure.

Miller, Etem, Fast could be brought back for 4 total IMO. Stepan at 6 let's say. Raanta at 750 K. That could leave us 3 mill under the cap. And with a tweak here or there, like maybe Step at 5.7 and the trio at 3.7 we can afford a winger. And maybe we can move Glass or decide to deal Klein and save 1 mill that way.

I think we will add the winger we need, and I just don't see any shot we have Etem in the top 6 and Fast in the top 9. If we did you could argue Brooks isn't way off, but I don't see that happening at all.

I think Etem doesn't have arbitration rights and is due 850k, Raanta 750k... Fast and Miller deserve to be around the same

They signed D.Moore a year too long imo, as Lindberg is more than ready. I also think ideally you want Fast and to some degree Miller on the 4th line and Etem the 3rd. This allows you to go get a proven scorer to put with CK/Stepan as i don't think Etem is there yet. Who that is i don't know for 3m. Maybe a guy like Tlusty or Fleischmann could be solid with them.

I don't get it... Wasn't the objective to get the team grittier and tougher this offseason?

Yes, and they started that by getting rid of MSL and moving Hags for Etem, so they have moved in that direction strud.

My guess is they will add a top 6 R shot winger, and I bet he has some grit to his game also.

Miller on the 4th line...no way. Guy had 10 goals last season in 40 something games. He will be a 3rd liner with Etem, and I like that mix. Fast should be on the 4th line though, and I expect him to be after we add a winger.

And I want no part of the trash you mentioned 71. We need to get better than that, and I think we will. Rather have a Williams type than those guys.

Brooks is a senile, lazy, old man now. He gets attached to players who are nice to him. Hagelin is a nice guy. Business is business. He's a role player. He wants too much money. I agree that his defense was very overrated. He doesn't had good anticipation. Fast and Hayes because of their hockey sense have a lot more defensive ability to cause turnovers. I expect Lindberg will be similar. I hear people rave about Hrvik's defense in the AHL. We'll see. People are a lot higher on him than I am.

After seeing Millers development i'd agree Chuck, he's not a 4th liner. I wouldn't have said that last December but he's gotten much better. Should be a 15-20g player now. Needs to be if they're going anywhere.

Brooks just wants a reaction. To write an article and basically state you can't see Miller and Kreider getting any better is silly. Plus, he doesn't even mention Hayes. I wish the Post would have somebody else cover the Rangers. Brooks became a guy going through the motions years ago.

In terms of Glass, i think they will keep him for one more year and may find it easier to deal him next summer with 1y left at 1m on his contract. Package him with a pick/prospect if needed.
